I have been working at Jack Link's Protein Snacks full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

If you are willing to do the work, it is a company where you can really make a difference. The leadership team has become more professional and more diverse. The VP of I.T. is a woman, the C.M.O. is African-American, the VP of Product development is Latin American. The company culture is informal, but can be intense. It is not for everyone. There is tons of humor and fun, but there is also a focus on results and improvement.

    Cons

Lack some of the management disciplines that an organization this size usually has.

    Advice to Management

Stay on the path! I have witnessed a lot of change at JL in 7 years. Usually for the better. Sometimes its been a case of two steps forward and one back, but in the past two years the structure has really improved.

I worked at Jack Link's Protein Snacks full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

There used to be pros now can't think if 1.

    Cons

PRODUCTION Management doesn't know hardly anything, they don't listen, there is no accountability, no respect. QUALITY management constently has knee jerk reactions to fix issues with no care of what the end result is. Ni follow up or follow through. The senior management belittles people disrespects then, doesn't know up from down.

    Advice to Management

You have seccussfully ruined, What was once great. No actions no accountability, almost all processes and procedures, have been broken by management. Get off your dam cell phone and learn how to manage a company. PAY IS AWFUL, triple work loads with no pay increase.

I have been working at Jack Link's Protein Snacks full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Having spent 30 years of my life working for a Major CPG company and not feeling inspired, the past 1.5 years working for Jack Link’s has been a great experience. The company’s values are fundamental life rules that apply to everyday living and cultural fit within the organization is important. Things get done quick because there are no barriers and It’s nice to work somewhere that you can be yourself, work hard,...

    Cons

The company is changing fast and you better hold on to your seat but it’s worth the ride.

    Advice to Management

Continue to add structure to the organization and hire qualified people that fit the culture, don’t loose the passion, energy and personal touch that built the company to what it is today.

I have been working at Jack Link's Protein Snacks full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Fast growing company of 3,500 world wide. My work load has improved greatly since I started with the company 6 years ago, as they hired additional staff. The company had a few years of declining growth, but now they are growing again. Company has average benefits and a bonus program. I enjoy the people I work with...very hard working and fun IT department. Most of the IT staff are located in downtown Minneapolis...

    Cons

Because the company grew so fast, a lot of processes or procedures are not in place...in IT and throughout the company. Fast paced company may not be for everyone. Only six paid Holidays. Communication is improving but needs to continue to improve. Some periods of high turnover at times.

    Advice to Management

Communicate. Work on developing staff more. Reflect on high turnover periods so you understand what it takes to retain good staff and move forward with necessary changes to retain employees. Work on processes and procedures so onboarding new staff isn't so difficult.

I have been working at Jack Link's Protein Snacks full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

-Casual work dress code -Downtown location for the Minneapolis office -Growing CPG category (although the category is growing faster than Jack Link's)

    Cons

-Some of the newer leaders are passable in certain situations, but the entrenched decision makers are aggressively hopelessly inept and objectively awful -The culture of extremely high arrogance coupled with extremely low intelligence starts at the top and permeates down -Workplace culture is toxic with verbal abuse, multiple "-ism's," ethical/oversight lapses, sexual harassment (yes, you read that right), etc. not...

    Advice to Management

Management shows no signs of changing so I'm writing this for potential hires. Be warned. This place has actually told multiple job seekers after interviews to not contact anyone currently or previously employed there. Average tenure company wide is probably around a year, if that. How are employees treated? Terminations come swiftly and without warning. I have seen multiple high performing employees terminated to...

I have been working at Jack Link's Protein Snacks full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Fellow employees come from all different backgrounds and are fun to work with. That will help in a very hectic environment.

    Cons

Note: this is in the Minneapolis corporate office. 401k is 1% match. Pay is nowhere near competitive to other Minneapolis retail companies. Turn over, and I cant stress this enough… is EXTREMELY high. People often don’t make it to a year. Upper management (grown men) act like teenage boys during companywide meetings. Literally on stage. Its uncomfortable at best. This is not a company you grow in. There is no career...

I worked at Jack Link's Protein Snacks full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great brand, portable protein snacking is on trend. Many great employees. Location is good if you want to work downtown.

    Cons

Ownership sees employees as completely disposable. Saw an influx of people added to the team in Minneapolis and then saw them all leave within a couple years. Many left on their own, many were let go at all levels.

    Advice to Management

Find away to keep Troy hunting instead of getting involved in the business. There is no trust within the organization.

I worked at Jack Link's Protein Snacks for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great brand recognized around the world. Leading category position. Some great people still work there. Reasonably good product but quality is inconsistent.

    Cons

Leadership team has little to no focus. Blame based management style. Lost any positive culture that once was terrific. Best day are behind them. Constant turnover.

    Advice to Management

Hiring more managers and expecting things to change for the better is not helping. Focus on helping the people who add value, not those who create meaningless work and then ask for added head count.

I worked at Jack Link's Protein Snacks full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Cool Lifestyle Brand and apparel. Company is still desperately trying to hold on to what was once a really cool culture.

    Cons

Company is between a rock and a hard place. They tried everything in last two years and it all failed miserably. Massive turnover of people has erased an awesome culture. C-Suite Leadership all from Schwann's, Kraft, or General Mills and that isn't a positive thing. Ownership comes into office when there are problems which seems to be a lot more frequent. Do not get in the cross hairs of CEO. I wouldn't recommend...
