    Genuinely care about their employees

    Pros

I've never worked for a company that genuinely cares about its employees more - personally and professionally. They are the first to help and the management level is incredible. The interview process is extensive but it truly is just to make sure they have the right people in the company.

    Cons

Genuinely can't think of any. I think department culture is different in every department, so experience could vary, but I don't see how you could have a negative experience.

Great people but slow to adapt

    Pros

Great work-life balance, awesome company perks, passionate coworkers. Not necessarily a pro nor a con, but the CEO is completely removed from the day-to-day. The COO runs the show, so that tells you the state of the company (not in much of a growth stage, more of a maintenance stage).

    Cons

    * The product is in DIRE need of a total refresh. It was build in the aughts and it feels that way. Leadership has shown no signs of modernizing its look and feel, instead opting for small, incremental updates that take forever to roll out and don't get to the root of what customers need to fully adopt the product. * The company uses EOS, an extremely dated management system that has rigid boundaries. It's nice that meetings are generally held to the time that has been dedicated to them, but I don't like rigid processes like this. * Good luck being successful if you didn't already use the software before joining or didn't know someone to get you in the door. The learning curve is extremely steep. * Jackrabbit operates as if titles don't matter outside of the company, and as such, your salary won't reflect your true worth. You also can't have a 'manager' in your title if you don't manage people (eg., Product Manager, Client Success Manager, Marketing Manager) are titles reserved only for someone who manages a team. * Almost everyone is white with a very limited number of exceptions.

    Jackrabbit Technologies Response

    CEO

The great thing about Jackrabbit is that we encourage open dialogue and all viewpoints are welcome! Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and advice with us. We do appreciate you mentioning that we offer a great work life balance, awesome company perks and passionate coworkers! However, the biggest concern we have is that we apparently did not have the opportunity to clarify with you a few items that you raised. Yes, it is true that I am not involved with most of the day-to-day, but this is intentional and allows Jackrabbit to grow even faster. When I was acting as both CEO and COO, I was bottlenecking the growth of our company and doing a terrible job at visionary tasks. With 30% growth last year and a new product in the works for the childcare market, I don’t think anyone believes we are in maintenance mode. All successful products eventually become dated and need a UI refresh, and that's where we are! We have invested significantly into UX resources and our UI refresh effort is well underway. Jackrabbit's products are very broad and very deep, so yes, there is a learning curve for both employees and clients. That is why we provide comprehensive onboarding programs for both internal and external Jackrabbit users, and why we continue to be recognized for the best product support in the industry. EOS is one of the more recent leadership frameworks to develop "traction" (pun intended) in business--EOS implementations are occurring all over the world right now. And, we have worked extremely hard to ensure that we align jobs to market and pay market salaries to everyone on the Jackrabbit team. One item that we recently clarified across Jackrabbit's leadership team is that an employee can in fact have a "manager" title without direct reports when that is a common practice for the position. Last but not least, we remain very focused on improving the diversity of our workforce and are relieved to see increasing diversity across applicants for recent job openings. Thanks again for your feedback and we wish you the best in your future endeavors!

    Pros

Remote work environment with good benefits

    Cons

Aimless except for growth. Zero strategy from top down. Just pure tactical decision making with only the goal of following a 5-year growth plan. Would not recommend.

    Jackrabbit Technologies Response

    HR Director

We are sorry to hear that you had such a negative experience. Jackrabbit Technologies does not plan in 5-year increments, and we definitely share our company strategy with transparency throughout the year. We can’t help but wonder if your post was meant for a different company with “Jackrabbit” in the company name? There are a few others out there! Nonetheless, we do value our remote setup, and we do have a great benefits package. And as part of our Core Values, we encourage employees to speak up, ask questions and share concerns. Our company culture is - and will continue to be - one of our top priorities.

Pack it up, boys, you're (very) unlikely to beat this company

    Pros

Remote work is a definite pro if that fits your lifestyle. Beyond that, Jackrabbit has the benefit of being a small company that is still a market-leader. This results in great confidence in the company's longevity without the need to feel lost in a giant behemoth of a company. Jackrabbit also has fantastic support for its customers, which as an employee makes me feel better about working for a company that actually cares about people both internally and externally. Speaking of caring internally, our HR has to work extra hard due to the smaller size of our company, but they manage to give us great benefits and respond very efficiently to feedback from employees. Once you join Jackrabbit, it's very unlikely you will leave under any negative circumstances. Give it a shot and you won't regret it!

    Cons

If you're looking at engineering roles: be aware that we have a mixture of cutting-edge and legacy code that we work on, so if you're looking for working with ONLY cutting-edge tech stacks, that could be a con for you. This being said, you may be on a team that only works on new stuff. As I said in the pros, HR has to work extra hard to do what they do for our benefits. With that said, you may pay more for healthcare premiums here than some other companies.

The best company I've worked for

    Mar 11, 2020 - Anonymous Employee

    Business Outlook

    Pros

This company will care about you. Everyone is typically remote, which is a huge plus for many. There is a high level of trust between employees and management to make this work style possible. Probably the best HR department you could imagine, and benefits are constantly improving. The company takes the employee's career goals and preferences seriously and employees get one-on-one feedback quarterly. The company is also very serious about transparency and company values. Many employees are former users of the product and the nicest people you will ever work with. On the development side, teams are agile and operate like well-oiled machines. Work is prioritized, scrutinized, tested, and presented exactly as you'd hope it would be. You can trust the process and project management to produce results with very few instances of missed deadlines, late nights, or high stress.

    Cons

Remote work is not for everyone, and this company leans heavily on it. You might find it a struggle to get everyone communicating effectively in larger remote meetings, and you may have trouble rounding up your remote teammates for quick discussion and decision.

Small company with great benefits but needs to update to compete in the software market.

    Pros

Small company, you get to know your co-workers personally, great people. Work from home, the entire company is remote. Open to working with employees in different states and countries. Good benefits and 401k matching. Does not discriminate based on age, race, gender, orientation, etc.

    Cons

The pay is not market rate. Hiring practices need improvement. At times they are too focused on competition, not enough focus on much needed updates to the system.
