I worked at Jackson Hewitt full-time

    Pros

This is horrible company, Manager did not know what they are doing,, multi store manager was not professional, to reach their goal, they can do anything they want to do, cut your pay rate, even in their ad said , pay start from $12, when You got hired, they will pay you only $11, depend your color. if you are B, you probably get paid$12, because manager is same color, if you are w, you will probably get paid$12, other color, paid is $s. Never work for them, they are cheat and liar, they hired people delet bad review online all the time, so nobody know the truth,

    Cons

unorganized, customer files never kept in safe place.

    Advice to Management

get professional manager, not is low quality people.

I worked at Jackson Hewitt full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They give you a lot of hours in the beginning of the season, you get your own
Business Cards to give out to start building clients.

    Cons

The management in the inner city buffalo teams are horrible people, they are not office oriented and they are into drama which is not good for any work environment more so for an environment that deals with money, in 2016 the IRS audited a few of the offices the manager at the downtown location had special clients that only wanted to go to her because " she always got them a return".

    Advice to Management

To upper Management: you should clean house and get the people out that you know are causing issues for new workers, you will miss out on great employees while you try to keep the people who have gotten used to doing things the wrong way and being rude, once you clean house Im sure this company will be its best

I worked at Jackson Hewitt (Less than a year)

    Pros

Not a single positive thing to say.

    Cons

    Low wages
    No security for disgruntled customers
    Late hours
    Seasonal work
    No raises or benefits
    Old equipment

    Advice to Management

I was stuck by myself in a new "store"in the winter with no heat. I had to provide tables and chairs for the clients myself. I had to provide the cleaning products and clean everything myself. I was in that store by myself from 8am to 9pm at night... Sometimes later if i had a client. I was assaulted by a "client" because i was a young female, alone, in a dead store at night. Never again!

I have been working at Jackson Hewitt part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I really don't have anything good to say about working for this company. They start at near minimum wage and give you a quarter raise every year no matter how good you are at your job. You can train and advance your skills and you still only get that quarter raise.

    Cons

Very low wages, very poor training, tax preparers are the bread and butter of this company, yet they are treated like dirt.

    Advice to Management

    Pay more.

    Pros

The best thing about Jackson Hewitt was the manager in she quit after 15 years because of the lies the people told everyone

    Cons

They tell you that you can make up to 12 hour but they lie. You get paid trash for the work you do 8.50-9.00/hr for not only preparing taxes but custodial work and receptionist work aswell. Dont believe they're lies if you work for them. They also pay you trash on your so called bonus which you get 4 months after the season is over.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees in stop scamming

I worked at Jackson Hewitt part-time

    Pros

The customers are great and you get the opportunity to work with a diverse number of people.

    Cons

Very disorganized company. Management is not fair or impartial and give all their friends most of the opportunities. The company does not train their employees well; employees are trained only to do their state tax only not additional states. The employees fight amongst themselves and use every opportunity to throw each other under the bus. Also the work schedule and work location is not flexible as the company portrays it to be.

    Advice to Management

Train your employees better and pay them a higher salary for the work being performed. Also use stricter requirements for employees wanting to become managers.

I worked at Jackson Hewitt full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great job in the beginning until a new manager took over and it was completely unprofessional. The GM did not care about her employees and neither did the owner.

    Cons

The owner and GM did not care about the employees, they decided to not hand out bonuses nor let us know what our bonus may be. They get drunk at parties and drive unsafely.

    Advice to Management

Get a new owner and get a new GM. Who in their right mind would have a GM that is 80 years old that does not do anything except for her hand picked employees?
