I worked at Jackson Hewitt part-time

    Pros

Fairly easy desk job, paid training, provides good information about taxes, legitimate business

    Cons

Seasonal work, very disorganized in management, but management is fairly new. Hours can be hit or miss depending on the area you work in, outer lying areas in denver area are far from management and get ignored frequently. They fail to tell you that you get to do your own marketing, go out and use your own vehicle to go to nearby stores to drop off coupons? Depending on needs, they may have you drive all over the denver area to work full time hours.

    Advice to Management

Get your staff earlier, train them, make them competent, add a manager to the north denver area to help with coverage gaps and supplies.

I worked at Jackson Hewitt part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They were pretty flexible about work times. Most employees also work elsewhere and since this is seasonal work, they know they need to work around your other work schedule. However, you have to expect to work mid-March through the last filing day.

    Cons

Clients know you won't break the law so they PROMISE that everything they tell you is true and correct. There's a reason they have to sign saying the information you input is from them and they attest that it is true and correct. It isn't...you know it...

I worked at Jackson Hewitt (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great place to get a foundation in tax preparation, very competitive...

    Cons

Not enough pay for what you have to endure, stopped letting ppl work over 40 hrs a week, managers have picks and don't mind showing it.

    Advice to Management

Treat ppl the way you would have them treat you. keep business professional, keep personal views away from the job

I have been working at Jackson Hewitt full-time

    Pros

Work-life balance between May and September is great and matches up nicely to the school year, easily allowing last minute getaways or planned vacations.

    Cons

Work-life balance does not exist between November and April. As a District Manager you are expected to work seven days a week and upward of ten hours each day.

    Advice to Management

Provide District Managers with the resources to delegate tasks so that they can focus on managing the business.

    Pros

In the position I learned a lot, I met a lot of interesting people, I got to develop and practice a lot of office skills, and the management and staff were extremely kind and supportive.

    Cons

It's only a seasonal position, the pay is low, and it's a difficult job.

    Advice to Management

More training for supervisors and managers and better resources when problems arise.
