I worked at Jackson National Life

    Pros

Decent pay, good benefits, decent training program to make you ready for external wholesaler roles.

    Cons

1 person is doing 2-3 peoples jobs. The compensation is not in line with other competitiors in the industry. Management has an idea that average compensation should be a motivating factor to reach the outside/external wholesaler quicker. The annuity industry is taking a bath except for two or three companies who have over 50% market share in the VA space. Very strong consolidation in the VA and FA market space, very... little room for promotion within the industry. Used to promote from within the company, that no longer stands. Very political environment.

    Advice to Management

Don't lie to employees, be open and honest about career advancement and opportuinties. Must ride itself of being such a political environment.

    Pros

Fast moving, transitioning from a small company to a large company, decent salary, good benefits, great 401K, award-winning customer focus

    Cons

growing pains, no space to work in, cubicle land is shrinking, no room for a visitor in your cubicle, not employee focused, treat employees like cattle: If they don't perform, we'll just get another cow, middle management team steals your ideas and then kicks you out so they don't have to give credit where credit is due

    Advice to Management

Quit promoting people because they agree with you; if you expect your team to work til midnight, you better be there too.

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Jackson National Life

    Pros

The company offers a generous time off package, good benefits, and good people to work with at your same level.

    Cons

The customer service area is very rigid and application of policy is not consistent. The impression is employees at this level are replaceable.

    Advice to Management

Think of customer service reps as valuable assets.

I worked at Jackson National Life

    Pros

Good way to "get your foot in the door" in the financial industry. Good benefits.

    Cons

Lack of communication/clarity in procedures between Lansing and Denver. Too much emphasis on quantity instead of quality (how about we do it right the first time instead of flying through it and making mistakes in order to "meet occupancy.") Some processing work is being outsourced to India. Some immature, unprofessional co-workers who spent half their days goofing off or on personal calls.

    Advice to Management

    Good luck

    Internal Wholesaler in
    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Jackson National Life

    Pros

Great place to start if you want to be an Internal Wholesaler. Good benefits, good product line, good name in the market place.

    Cons

100% Jackson all the time. Can't think outside the box to get things done. Externals have way to much say in who gets promoted. Have to drink the company kool aid or you will not advance with this company. Once you leave, even on good terms getting back in is almost impossible.

    Advice to Management

Realize that a good External Wholesaler doesn't always make a good manager. Increase pay for Internals so they feel like they are actually contributing to the company.
