I worked at Jacobs full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

working conditions, people in all disciplines were competent and cooperative, safety in and out office was always emphasized. some flexibility in hours worked was a plus.

    Cons

Traffic in office area was difficult. lots of work share with overseas offices required to reduce cost per hour to clients means less US workforce. Layoffs cycle common in this line of work.

I have been working at Jacobs part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Flexible work schedule. PTO is pretty standard.

    Cons

So many...mediocre benefits in general. Upper management is usually hired from outside rather than promoted from within. Way too much corporate focus on acquisitions rather than fostering growth with existing employees.

    Advice to Management

Try to support and retain your existing talent without the crushing pressure of always having to be billable to a project. We should be allowed overhead time for education, training, etc. Not everything can be billed to a client.
