I have been working at Jacobs full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Good pay
    Good Safety Culture

    Cons

Unless you have PTO, you are laid off during slow periods no matter how good you are.

    Advice to Management

Keep at least long term (5year+) lower grade good performance employees on over head for at least 6-8 weeks while waiting for a suitable assignment for them.

I worked at Jacobs full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Management and supervisor were easy to work with. Job duties were straight forward and easy to learn. Work schedule was 4 9's and a 4.

    Cons

No potential for growth or movement in the company. Company is too large for my liking but some people like working for large corporations. No bonus potential and limited yearly raises.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to give employees bonuses for a good year. Continue the good training. Allow employees to advance within the company.

I have been working at Jacobs full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

So far none currently looking for a new opportunity

    Cons

Was hired in from directly in the field without any training support I have had to call repeatedly just to get my paychecks there any other type of HR items like my signing bonus and Benefits I'm still chasing down on my own. Basically sink or swim and treated as a contractor vs a direct employee

    Advice to Management

I have been working at Jacobs full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Houston office works 4-10 schedule with Friday's off. Decent benefits: 401k with matching, high deductible health insurance with HSA, 3 weeks PTO. Mentoring programs for younger employees and those early in their careers. Older workers also valued.

    Cons

Downturn in oil and gas industry has seen a lot of work going oversees to reduce costs. I've heard the outsourced work is subpar. Layoffs are ongoing as of early 2017

    Advice to Management

Don't focus so much on cost reduction through outsourcing that quality of work suffers. A competitive pricing edge won't work for long if unhappy clients impact company reputation negatively. Listen to your project managers.
