    I worked at Jacobsen full-time

    Pros

The people were very friendly, and in the time I did spend there I learned a lot about my field choice.

    Cons

Management was very unstable, did not make the best decisions for the company. Sometimes it felt like managers didn't actualyl know hwo to do their own employees jobs, which led to a lot of problems when problem solving

    Advice to Management

restructure during the move. If you go down with the same mindset the company will not last.

I worked at Jacobsen full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

When under local management, all facets of operation ran smoothly.Great co-workers creating family- team atmosphere.A place for everything and everything in place.

    Cons

Poor product quality.Poor to no communication from Charlotte.Management shuffled like playing cards, with little job interest, only concerned with their next lateral promotion. The Jacobsen Direct fiasco was just another example of arrogant leadership with no clue what they were doing.

    Advice to Management

If there is one thing I learned from Jacobsen,Management does not take advice. The system wasn't broken.Simply take a lesson from successful distributors, and apply it to all.

I have been working at Jacobsen (Less than a year)

    Pros

    1. Owned by a pretty big company
2 Has strong focus on Golf Industry
    3. Management is committed
    4. Friendly Co-Workers

    Cons

    1. Very old styled
    2. Conventional culture
    3. Work Culture
    4. Very few activities
    5. No work - Life balance
    6. Use old technologies.

    Advice to Management

Employees don't have any guidance or mentoring from strong leaders. It is too vague and the managers to employee relationship is not enforced by the senior executives. The CEO down to the very youngest employee (in terms of years in Inspirage) should be 100% aligned to the company's strategic and tactical objectives, and then everyone within that chain should be held accountable. This does not exist today.

  7. "Intern Review"

    Pros

Very relaxed culture. Interns were treated as full-time employees and given real work experience.

    Cons

Pay is not very competitive compared to other Textron companies.

I have been working at Jacobsen full-time

Exposure to many types of mechanical systems
Get to work in Siemens NX a lot
Have learned a lot from this job
    Great job for new graduates

    Cons

No set way of doing things
    Average pay scale
Seems like only moves in the company are lateral
Announced recently that company is moving to Augusta, GA

    Advice to Management

No major complaints about management. Would like if hours were more flexible.

I worked at Jacobsen full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Pay is good, Innovative products

    Cons

From the president down no clue what they are doing especially in their "Jacobsen Direct" fiasco. They should have remained a manufacturer. Now that they are trying to do distribution/sales direct it has been a disaster. They have fired or laid off at least 50 people in the last few months and more to come. Only reason this place is afloat is because of Textron but the parent company is about done with the poor performance. Until they figure out how to build a better product and back it up with parts and service they will always remain 3rd behind Toro and John Deere

    Advice to Management

Its not rocket science your just building lawn mowers. Build a quality product and back it up.

  11. "Good Place to work for, expect lateral movement"

I worked at Jacobsen full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great work atmosphere. Good value of experience as an Engineer. Opportunity to see every aspect from design concept through quality.

    Cons

Expect little to no movement unless it's lateral. Design limited by manufacturing capability and locked on specific suppliers.

    Advice to Management

Management is pretty great to work for, couldn't imagine better. They really let you have freedom to test your capability.
