    Pros

Immediate boss was great. Work day ended at 9 or 6pm for the most part. Paid average to good

    Cons

The rest of management is ineffective and out of touch. Not much room for growth. Weak attempt at creating a company culture. There isn't much opportunity for professional growth.

    Advice to Management

    Recognize the hard working employee

I have been working at Jagex full-time

    Pros

    - Snr Management very keen on your development and improving things
    - Great game dev environment with a lot of emphasis on fun
    - Amazing jollies and company dos

    Cons

    - Some very well respected exec management seem to be driven out by something going on at the top
    - Some decisions based on 'metrics and analytics' a bit questionable - would like to see how reliable these analytics are

    Advice to Management

Be more transparent on how decisions are made, and allow experts in the company to feed back on data that drives decisions

I have been working at Jagex full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    - QA department offers real progression and a sense of belonging
    - Our skills and talents are invested in, we can code, create graphics, release our own content
    - Can work on personal projects for an entire day every two weeks
    - Due to how well the department is setup we rarely need to do O.T, and if we do it's not a lot
    - Huge sense of ownership and accountability for your content, lots of trust placed in you

    Cons

    - Pay is not terrible, but isn't above average. Cambridge is too expensive which reduces our gain
    - Because of the above you're pretty much restricted to house sharing, which isn't a great life

    Advice to Management

    - Balance our wages in coordination with location costs, performance AND role. Not just one.

I worked at Jagex full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Friendly and enthusiastic teams.
Opportunities to develop skills outside of your job title.
    Team and company wide "jollys".
Free evening meals if staying late.
    Great atmosphere and working environment.
Opinions and suggestions are definitely taken on board in relation to game content.

    Cons

HR and management are very unorganised and have gone downhill recently.
Management have no interest in the titles the company produce and care solely about money.
A lot of older employees stuck in their ways and refuse to learn new methods or approaches.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees more often.

I worked at Jagex full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Life in the offices can be a little quirky. I love how our co-workers can pull pranks and do nerf wars. Fun is highly encouraged here! Excellent environment for creativity and the co-workers are incredibly fun to work with. Reasonable salary, especially when you are encouraged to have fun in order to promote creativity.

    Cons

Management can be a little hard to deal with sometimes. Jagex is managing multiple games at once so there are separate teams for each game. The teams are detached from each other and sometimes there are internal politics. Co-workers are consistently being re-assigned to a different game especially away from the flagship game, which I believe is the most important to stay focused on.

    Advice to Management

Let the management of separate games be separate from each other and don't pull developers from one game to another!

I have been working at Jagex full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A fun place to work, with a management team which is improving, a level of transparency never before seen at the company, and a lot of trust given to staff.

    - Regular jollies
    - Good benefits (currently undergoing review)
    - Good pay for high performers
    - Genuine focus on creating games for communities, receptive and willing to listen to player feedback

    Cons

    - Only ever released one successful title
    - Some staff (who've been here a while) are stuck in their ways, and constantly complain
    - Car park spaces are too small
    - Food often lacking

    Advice to Management

Don't let the momentum subside, keep pushing for improvement across the whole business.

Listen to constructive criticism, but ignore people who simply complain.

Provide people with a better roadmap for their career, but be honest and open with people who under-perform.

I have been working at Jagex full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good overall competitive benefits package, including pensions, training and healthcare along with smaller things like birthday vouchers, team jollies, beers on payday etc - and Jagex management want these to remain competitive. Colleagues are great, there is a real sense of camaraderie around the office, forging long term friendships. Things have turned a corner lately following a difficult period, with new management genuinely trying to make a difference and learn from the mistakes of the past. Communication has improved a lot, with much more transparency and openness. There is a sense of proper corporate planning here following the change in leadership, and things are less reactionary and knee jerk than they were before. The future looks clearer and brighter than it has done in years.

    Cons

Some staff who have been here for a long time seem to take the place for granted and constantly moan and complain about the tiniest things, which can be very frustrating. The company is still struggling to launch a second major game, and RuneScape cannot last forever, so the next success needs to come from somewhere. Some areas are slightly lower paid than they should be, although most are fine, and there are moves being made to correct this. Outdated technology makes it hard to attract talent or do new projects easily.

    Advice to Management

Get a second successful game out. Keep up the openness and transparency. Stick to your plans and don't change direction at the first sign of trouble.
