I have been working at Jaguar Land Rover full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Work life balance isn't bad, nice offices, good place to learn since it has a flat organizational structure.

    Cons

Very little to no room for advancement. Promotions are very hard to come by, especially going from a normal employee to a manager. Lateral movement is possible, but for no raise in pay. They'd rather higher someone from BMW, MB or the corporate office in the UK than promote internally. This causes low morale, but HR doesn't care, since they are basically useless.
Raises and bonuses are abysmal. Like not even equal to cost of living.
    No summer hours.
Don't even think about asking to drive a company car. Management thinks they are made out of gold. The parking lot is full of cars literally rusting away, but they won't let you near them. What good is it working for a car company if you can't even drive them?
US management isn't bad, but they are stuck with the horrible decisions that are made in the UK. The UK management is basically running the company into the ground.
IT sucks and they don't invest a dime into technology. Reporting is non-existent in many cases and work-arounds are the rule not the exception.

    Advice to Management

Promote internally! Allow employees access to vehicles. If you give a merit raise, make sure it's more than cost of living. Step back and invest in technology and reporting. Lastly, upper management in the UK has to go, otherwise the brand will not survive.

    Pros

Current and future products are exciting, beautiful building to work in, employees are great people, pay is aligned with other companies.

    Cons

Expected to work 24/7, hostile work environment, not in touch with needs / wants of the customer, only concerned about the companies bottom line

    Advice to Management

Stop dictating how employees should feel and start listening to and acting on grievances.

I have been working at Jaguar Land Rover full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Occasionally you get some cool projects.
Many opportunities to stretch skills. Working on automotive software comes with a unique set of challenges that required a new way of thinking.
If you like corporate life, this job's for you!

    Cons

If you can't stand corporate life, maybe try another job.
There is much distrust between the UK and US teams as well as between the Management and staff. I've heard many people express that they feel their work isn't valued.
There is way too much duplication of work between the UK and US that is a result of poor communication and lack of trust.
Management and upper management are all white and male.
It's a tech job so women if you apply, know you will have to fight to be taken seriously.

    Advice to Management

Diversify. Trust and transparency with your staff will lead staff to feel more valued and therefore produce better work. Treat people like people instead of assets/ resources.

    Pros

Decent thing to put on resume.

    Cons

The place is filled with people who are full of themselves. Constantly having to work in an environment where people are either trash talking coworkers or upper management is not a place anyone should need to be. It's an uncomfortable environment, the work culture is boring/sad, and no matter how hard you work nobody cares.

    Advice to Management

watch out for the people underneath. They are very sneaky.
