I have been working at Jam City full-time

    Pros

    Great company -- excellent leadership.

    Cons

N/A -- Jam City does an excellent job of ensuring their employees are happy in their day to day.

    Pros

Company has a portfolio of profitable puzzle games, catered lunch 3x weekly. There are solid, hardworking people throughout organization can make this a pleasant and challenging place to work if you're on the right team and shielded from certain managers.

    Cons

Incompetent management and a highly divise and political environment results in teams running extremely ineffectively. No one seems to have a sense of process, organization nor understands how to run a meeting effectively. Some teams run too operationally lean to be able to handle the workload as the company scales (12 games and counting).

    Advice to Management

Clean house, too much incompetency in middle management, especially more recent outside hires

I worked at Jam City full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Great hours. Work / Life balance is truly incredible
    - Fun, lighthearted projects
    - Great culture / great people to work with
    - Unlimited paid vacation

    Cons

    - Management is sneaky, awkward to experience and often conflicting in various ways with a lot of retread, often have to tip toe and create direction yourself to get things done
    - Location for driving commuter. In Culver City, traffic is a beast. Difficult / time consuming to get to freeways.
    - Unbreakable glass ceiling; there is no internal promotion, nowhere to go
    - Noncompetitive pay with no negotiation
    - Those who are hired as "Full Time" are first brought on as contractors for a 'trial period' (with no benefits) that lasts for months, and on more than one occurrence it never ended

    Advice to Management

If you advertise a FT position, hire the applicant as a FT employee. Clear up management.

I have been working at Jam City full-time

    Pros

Monthly comped activities, free food every other day, and relaxEd environment.

    Cons

There seems to be a lack of poor leadership. There isn't much room to grow as a low level employee.

    Advice to Management

Learn to grow your employeyes. Give them goals to set or even ask them of their goals!

    Pros

This review is for the San Diego Studio. Each studio has it's own culture so take that into consideration. The SD studio is very well run and there is low drama. Everyone works hard to make our games amazing and takes feedback positively. Good mix or senior, mid, and junior staff members all working together. Great place to learn and grow.

    Cons

Leadership sometimes focuses on the shiny new thing instead of sticking to original plan.

    Advice to Management

Keep listening to your staff and be open to change. Though there were things that worked and failed at previous companies doesn't mean we can't try it again here.
