I have been working at James G. Davis Construction full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of great perks, including company store credit every 6 mo, auto benefits, monthly company happy hours, lots of catered classes/ "lunch and learns". Recently DAVIS started a project engineer group, focused on organizing fun events for the young people in the company to get together, play games and socialize outside of work.

    Cons

Work life balance. It comes with the territory of working construction, but dont expect to work 9-5pm. Pick your spots, some days just know you'll end up working late and that's just how it is.

    Advice to Management

Increase amount of DAVIS workers on each project. Too many are understaffed, straining the employees and requiring longer hours.

    Pros

Interned at a few companies before and comparatively, interning at DAVIS was by far my favorite one. The pay is good and they set you up with housing (with all of the other interns), they have an activity basically every week for you which is always fun - and most importantly you learn SO much working at DAVIS. Highly recommend this company & internship program. Plus everybody who works there (CEO down to the Project Engineers) is so nice and open to getting to know you - real sense of family.

    Cons

None that I can Think of

Lots of responsibility, free housing, and get to live with other interns.

    Cons

Nothing is really too bad with DAVIS

I have been working at James G. Davis Construction full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Family type feel and learning environment, and a great place to make a career. Management just cares about you getting your job done and isn't counting your minutes and hours worked.

    Cons

They need to work harder to retain employees that leave to other companies to make a higher salary. The cost of searching to find new employees has got to be more than what a bump in pay would have been worth.

    Advice to Management

If there are employees that you value, be sure they are being compensated accordingly because recruiters are certainly emailing them daily with more attractive offers.

I have been working at James G. Davis Construction full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great support from VP's and ability to lead a project and or portion of the project.

    Cons

Disconnection between office and field side. Office doesn't understand nor is willing to work closely with field staff regarding some issues. Not typical on all projects, but can be common place.

    Advice to Management

Easy to advance with hardwork and dedication.

I worked at James G. Davis Construction (More than a year)

    Pros

It is a great atmosphere, employees are friendly and very helpful. No one plays favorites and everyone is on an even playing field.

    Cons

Traveling from job site to job site can become tiresome. Traffic in the areas of the job sites can be very heavy at times and can delay audits.

    Advice to Management

Great company with great opportunities to grow. It has great leadership and they teach you everything you need to know about the jobs you are attending.
