Thanks for leaving a review! We know the compensation landscape globally has shifted, and Jamf has a number of efforts currently underway to ensure our compensation and benefits packages remain competitive. We are excited about the ability to add long term financial opportunity that our equity programs (Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) and Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP) open up for our employees to build wealth for their future, yet we realize base pay is extremely important. At the end of 2021, Jamf rolled out training for our leadership team on Jamf compensation philosophy, programs, and processes. We will be broadening the scope of these trainings, both around compensation and leadership & development, as we move through 2022.

    Growing Pains

    Sep 22, 2022 - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

    - Excellent coworkers; talented, hardworking, and always willing to lend a hand - Great health benefits - Flexible schedule and hybrid / remote environment; overall good work-life balance - Good products that you can stand behind - Executive leadership is confident and strong - Values and mission are great; and are demonstrated by most in the company

    Cons

    - Compensation is not nearly as competitive and much lower than others of the same pedigree. Company tries to make up for this with additional benefits, but it is falling short - Lots of growing pains, and company has not scaled internally with its customer base, leading to burnout, mismanagement, loss of talent, and disgruntled clients and employees - Limited mobility with internal career growth - Culture is, at times, performative depending on the department, and can face discrimination based on gender and race; could be doing a lot more to strengthen equity, diversity, and inclusion - Middle management is out of touch with their employees

Do the bare minimum, drink the kool-aid, and don't try to change anything

    Jul 30, 2022 - Technical Support Associate
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

    - Access to technology is easy - The people (aside from management) are wonderful - Benefits are very good - Some paid holidays**

    Cons

    - Compensation - HR - Management - Very limiting work environment - Rapidly expanding company with little to no scaling to keep up with demand Compensation: Between Tier 1 agents being hired on for higher than Tier 2, the terrible “merit-based” raise system (with a max of 3%), and the complete lack of cost of living adjustments, the monetary compensation here clearly lacks anything to be desired. Despite that, benefits are rather good with moderate access to PTO, and Medical/Dental/Visual. *Recently, however, Jamf has entirely removed any sort of covid sick leave, so that access to PTO is rather moot should one be so unlucky. There are opportunities to use other means to cover extended leave, but any of those requests can take as little as a couple weeks or as long as a few months. **Looping back to the paid holidays. Offering 24/7 support is awesome for customers, but means some people get the short end of the stick working weekends or holidays. In addition, there’s no “getting that holiday back” - If you work service desk or on-call during a holiday that the rest of the company gets off, you’re just out of luck on that one. HR: During my time at Jamf, I attempted to go through the process of receiving accommodations that ultimately would have helped me perform my job better than what I was able to. This, of course, needed to be done through HR (which also has not scaled with the company, and can also take weeks to months to get any sort of progress on a case. Upon asking for the information on how to apply for accommodations, the HR Representative working with Support at the time made it very clear that they did not believe I needed them because my disability is mental health related. They instead provided the information to take a leave of absence. Following that, anytime I tried to get any additional information, I was shoo’d away and told to call the number they had given me. Never getting the accommodations I needed, my performance continued to drop and no amount of explanations or pleas for help from my manager would get through the “Get on the GL or you’re fired” attitude tier 1 managers have over their employees. Even going to higher level management would ultimately lead to nothing as they’d give a boilerplate “Yeah I’ll look into that” with no action or further communication surrounding the issue. Management: Tier 1 support requires a call center level dedication to the phones, and everything else can just fall by the wayside. If you waver on the phones for whatever reason, be prepared to face unreasonably severe consequences. Managers will continually spout “The GL is the most important part of the job” while also assigning a full case queue and chat shifts everyday. The latter two are more like busy work as managers will routinely pull people from chats or casework to “Meet the demands of the GL” leaving no time for any other sort of learning or progression in your support career. Tier 1 Management also has a bit of a problem with treating employees as disposable. Mental Health or Physical Wellbeing are less important than the GL. Managers will encourage taking the entire day of PTO if anything is preventing you from being on the GL. Construction outside? PTO. Ear infection? PTO. Allergies making you sneeze? PTO. They would rather not have you at all, than be available outside of the GL. Regardless of what you bring to the table, nothing is more important than the GL. Very limiting work environment: As mentioned above, nothing matters aside from the GL. This includes the company value of “Relentless Self-Improvement.” There is simply no time, due to the way management treats employees and the lack of scaling of any department to meet demands, to learn or explore anything. Tier 1 managers subtly push that if a case requires any level of research just to consult so you can get back on the GL. There is absolutely nothing earned for over-performing in Tier 1 support. You won’t have managers breathing down your back, but regardless of the documentation you provide, questions you’re able to answer, cases you’re able to close, if you’re not on the GL it just doesn’t matter. Again, management actively rewards the bare minimum of droning through 3 hours of calls and coasting everywhere else. It’s not all bad though. The people I worked with fostered one of the most amazing communities I’ve been a part of. It’s really sad that Jamf doesn’t recognize or reward the talent they have. Maybe they would have kept some of the really amazing people around. Ultimately, this is a fine place to work for the Jamf experience, but your talents will be better recognized elsewhere. Thriving in Tier 1 support is as simple as doing the bare minimum and having no desire to grow your tech support skills beyond what is strictly critical.

    Jamf Response

Thanks for taking the time to share this feedback with us. We take very seriously our obligation to provide a safe, inclusive and productive work environment for all of our employees. Our ADA accommodations policy offers a wide range of reasonable accommodations tailored to the unique needs of the individual employee and their work duties. Our Accessibility ERG provides community engagement, support, and education about disabilities in the workplace. We are committed to taking care of our team members, and have recently expanded a number of our benefits programs and services to ensure the wellbeing (physical, mental, emotional, and financial) of all Jamfs. This year we increased the number of traditional Paid Time Off (PTO) days available to employees in most cases by a full work week. We also continue to provide paid holiday time off, a Jamf Cares day and 3 paid days off to volunteer. For those that have needs that exceed any of those programs, we have income protection programs in place through short and long term disability programs. Again, we appreciate you sharing your concerns with us, and I encourage you to reach out to me directly (amy.rennock@jamf.com) so that we can further understand how we can help you to be successful.

    Pros

This is a great company, it does have a very relaxed environment. There are a ton of fringe benefits and they are very accommodating to your needs personal and work. The upper management feel like they're your equivalent and not a superior. Working at JAMF I feel like a valued employee. They seen my strengths and worked with me to improve them. The pay is good, and benefits are amazing. If you're having a bad day, or frustrated getting up and going for a walk or playing a round of foosball is completely acceptable, so you can re-coop and put forth your best efforts. The community is amazing, and have a very strong following of passionate customers who love what they do.

    Cons

Not a con, but definitely not a job for every one. You need to have a passion for technology, you need blind to your own limitations and continue to push yourself each day. You will become frustrated, and exhausted at time, but with the passion that you have for what you do, overcoming these difficulties are incredibly rewarding. Every day spent there makes me that much better than the previous day. Many occasions I have left the office mentally fatigued from the effort it took to power through it. The kool-aid can be a bit much as a new employee, you might not enjoy it right away but once you realize what it took to make it to where JAMF is at, you do appreciate it that much more.

Pay Concerns are Valid -- and unaddressed

Feb 4, 2022 - Account Executive in Minneapolis, MN

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Great culture that they've tried to maintain through working from home. They took Covid seriously and quickly adapted to remote work. Granting of RSU's when they initially went IPO regardless of tenure was a nice touch. Overall good benefits.

    Cons

The overall compensation is concerning. More and more very skilled and tenured employees who have helped Jamf become the company it is today have left. Which then puts a strain on the organization as a whole as you're constantly bringing in new people that need extensive training... ultimately hurting the customer experience. The pay has not been addressed, even though during an all company meeting senior leadership touted the employee retention rate during the "great resignation" (which is skewed due to acquiring a new company last year, it almost felt like they were patting their own backs and the messaging was not received well amongst my peers) -- giving employees RSU's that need to vest over a 4 year period does not make up for inflation and/or put food on the table. It felt like a slap in the face addressing the concerns from engagement surveys. I don't know if senior leadership cares. When I started at Jamf I looked at it as a long term organization that I wanted to be at for a very long time, now I realize it's a great resume builder and in a revolving world of remote organizations it may be a good time to start looking. As a company that encourages relentless self improvement -- I feel that is just a buzz word. If you take concerns to middle management or offer advice on how to improve a process it's looked at as "that's just how we've always done it" the ability to give your customer a gold standard level of support is not there, unless the customer is paying for a premium service.

    Pros

    - Hard does not remain unnoticed - Management is always available and they do not micro manage like far too many managers do at other companies - Benefits are awesome

    Cons

    - I think compared to other tech companies in similar roles, salaries at Jamf tend to be slightly lower than average or are at around average - Sometimes work can be overwhelmingly high and more personnel is needed, although I think this is getting better

    Pros

    - Benefits are great - RSU Shares - Great local team

    Cons

    - Career development is almost non-existent for APAC staff where engineering teams don't exist, the local team has been harping on for this for about 2 years... - All decisions are made in the US and EMEIA, APAC almost feels like Out of Sight out of mind for majority of the time - Limited project work for teams outside of US/EMEIA - Pay could be greatly improved for the work that is to be performed - RSUs are great but they are not an injection of cash which most people I'm sure would prefer due to rising costs of living

    Good employment, but slowly declining

Jan 19, 2016 - Senior Technical Account Manager
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Currently the pay is competitive (for the area, not the field) and the benefits are great. Fellow employees are easy to get along with and can be great friends, even outside of work. Fringe benefits like a take-home laptop, iPad, and iPhone in some departments are nice, but don't expect them to update the iPad they gave you 5 years ago with a new one. Reasonable consumption of alcohol is allowed, though not provided. Dogs are allowed in the office too, though aggressive behavior is not typically punished so caution is needed around some when bringing your own. Bragging to others and lying to yourself about how cool it is to work here. Most of the other Pros have quietly gone away during my employment.

    Cons

The current plan is to significantly grow the customer base, without growing most other departments. Stress levels skyrocket during the incredibly busy Fall season, especially in the support department, and this can only possibly compound that issue. This corresponds to the dwindling opportunity for climbing the ladder, as with fewer positions being opened there will be less room to grow as an employee and as a company. Nepotism is something that gets brought up in private conversations often, there are continually more people with long-time friends in management that seem to have more 'opportunities' than those without. Sometimes this and other reasons are the creators of unannounced "internal job postings" which are meant for that one person, but must be posted for legal reasons -- you won't get that promotion because the posting was a technicality. Culture is touted heavily in recruiting and initiation (the week where you're encouraged to get wasted with your fellow initiates on worknights and then wake up at 7 AM for more death by Powerpoint). Honestly, the culture can be broken down into a few things: Booze, dogs, and Nerf, none of which are unique to this place. The real culture is the people, you can get the same amount of it working at a gas station. The week of 'culture training' where you're told how wonderful an opportunity you have been given by a list of long-term senior employees, who live in a completely different world than you'll see, is full of unfortunately meaningless information that you'll never draw on again, except perhaps JAMF's history or funny anecdotes about people you'll never meet. This week could easily be spent training a group that is otherwise completely inexperienced in the product that they are about to make their full time profession. While the pay is decent from an outside perspective, you'll quickly realize how little it actually is for the amount of work that you do.
