Pros
- Excellent coworkers; talented, hardworking, and always willing to lend a hand - Great health benefits - Flexible schedule and hybrid / remote environment; overall good work-life balance - Good products that you can stand behind - Executive leadership is confident and strong - Values and mission are great; and are demonstrated by most in the company
Cons
- Compensation is not nearly as competitive and much lower than others of the same pedigree. Company tries to make up for this with additional benefits, but it is falling short - Lots of growing pains, and company has not scaled internally with its customer base, leading to burnout, mismanagement, loss of talent, and disgruntled clients and employees - Limited mobility with internal career growth - Culture is, at times, performative depending on the department, and can face discrimination based on gender and race; could be doing a lot more to strengthen equity, diversity, and inclusion - Middle management is out of touch with their employees

Great as a startup, not so much as a publicly traded company
Jul 26, 2022 - User Experience Designer II in Minneapolis, MNRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Working here changed the trajectory of my career. I was blessed with an amazing supervisor that took great interest in my growth. That person and the rapid growth allowed me to explore and push my skills in a way that was natural for me that ultimately resulted in a fairly drastic career shift.
Cons
The startup and/or small software company version was great. As we got bigger, more middle management was brought in and things got very siloed and competitive over control of aspects of the product(s). This is not necessarily a bad thing, but from my perspective it made it very hard to make a difference in what got released to the public.
Jamf Response
Thank you for your feedback. Jamf is a rapidly growing organization and we are excited to continue on this journey towards the future, but we do realize this has led to some growing pains. As our teams grow and stretch, we are continuing to build systems and structures can scale along with us to be more deliberate and clear with our cross functional communications and ensure all teams are enabled too effectively and productively collaborate.

Account Executive

-The product is very much a niche and is evolving as Apple in the enterprise is. -Great benefits
Cons
-The new CEO is very talented, but since the co-founders are no longer a big party of the company, the culture is making a dramatic change for the worse -Too much middle management has been hired with no clear description of what their job is other than to babysit and micro manage. -It is my belief, along with many others, that the company is in the process of being acquired. Dean Hager has a history of this and they are hiring executives to 'tighten things up.' -The company is not very culturally diverse, unless you reside in one of the international offices. -Employees are not treated equally. If you are one of the 'originals' and are liked by upper management, rules and/or policies will be changed to accommodate them.

Pros
Some really cool folks working on the floor. As well as some very cool customers. This will keep you working for Jamf, but is absolutely not a reason to go to work there.
Cons
Jamf is the biggest sham in software employment today. They will try to explain away their disgustingly poor pay, with beanbag chairs and the odd office party. Year-over-year pay increases are well below industry average and they will tell you you should feel lucky just to work there. Career advancement opportunities are slim to none once you hit a certain, yet very low, level. They will dangle career opportunities to get you to stay docile and when a position opens up they will hire from the outside. To Jamf their employees are disposable. They consistently brag about being a 'Top Employer' yet internally they're a mess. They draw heavily on allowing fresh graduates a 'foot in the door', so tenure there is a joke. Management will regularly remind employees that they are disposable. Middle management is ruining the organization. Too many MBA's with zero experience in the real world. They'd rather have a workforce that looks good to potential buyers, than support their people and customers. The product is a mess, and effects all aspects of the business. I watched good people be walked out the door because they challenged the status quo. Jamf is dying, and senior management is asleep at the wheel. If you're part of the LGBTQIA community or a minority, steer clear.

A great promise and even greater letdown
Jul 8, 2019 - Technical Account Manager in Eau Claire, WIRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
When I interviewed at JAMF it was a great experience. I had a friend that was already employed by them and they could not stop saying great things about the company, the culture and the product. Training was fast and furious, akin to drinking from a fire hose. I did not have too much of a technical background but I had come from Apple, so I was a shoe in. The people are great, the two CEO's at the time were awesome and they would host meetings once a week and engage with the employees. Dogs at the office, amazing location were a plus.
Cons
Being in a position where you are the first line of contact for troubleshooting was no problem. The problems arose when you had to elevate an issue to the engineers or there was an issue with the customer environment that a TAM could not assist with. The teams were stretched thin, overworked and underpaid. Middle management did not seem to care, and seemed to be upset when told that there was an issue with how calls were being handled. There was no upward movement from your position, lateral movement was not possible unless you knew someone in the dept in which you wanted to move.

Not angry, just being real.
Nov 14, 2021 - Sales in Minneapolis, MNRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
-Jamf has excellent healthcare at an affordable + competitive price. -Work/life balance is great for most roles. -Growing and secure company. -Major points to bringing on the new CIO who is needed for the next chapter of growth. -Excellent offering of hardware to all levels.
Cons
-No unlimited PTO -Growing pains are incredibly difficult for now and the foreseeable future. -In many ways, Jamf has not matured and acts like they are a company of 500 people in Eau Claire. The Midwest mentality running through the veins of this company will eventually destroy it. -Individuals promoted to management after tenure and not talent or results. -Lots of times you have the “opportunity” to do more than one job until you force leadership to build positions to help scale or cover up gaping holes that have existed for a long period of time. -Pizza parties in lieu of actual investment in employees. Now for the real pain: -Jamf has failed to address the biggest elephant in the room: horrible pay compared to nearly every other software company (small, medium, large, enterprise). -For many sales roles, Jamf is usually 30-60% lower for similar titles in every market in the US. -While many companies have pivoted to offering remote employees California-like salaries regardless of location, Jamf pays like people are buying a house on the outskirts of Eau Claire. It’s not sustainable. -Subpar RSU offerings below middle management. -No company percentage bonus for individual contributors. During my two weeks notice, Jamf failed to offer any sort of counter to the competing offers I had. It was literally not mentioned by anyone. Nobody did anything to get me to stay. At all. There is simply no process to retain highly talented and highly technical people. This will continue to bleed them dry until pay is addressed.

Jamf is committed to taking care of our team members, and part of that promise is ensuring all Jamfs are fairly and equitably paid. We know that the compensation landscape globally has shifted for a number of reasons, and Jamf has a number of efforts underway to be able to retain our current talent and continue to recruit top talent that wants to make an impact on the world. Jamf also takes a ‘whole employee experience’ view of compensation, and strives to make investments not only in cash and salary related items, but also other services to ensure the wellbeing (financial, physical, and emotional) of our teams. Just within the 2021 alone, Jamf has rolled out an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), provided ownership to our employees in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSU), expanded on our paid parental leaves in the US and added family planning benefit services like IVF and egg freezing, provided for an additional 3 paid holidays for the end of 2021… and we are not done yet. We continue to review all of our total rewards and make investments to support our employees. Employee retention is a top priority at Jamf in order to continue our more than 90% retention rate and ensure Jamf is a great place to work for all.

Still a growing company with a quality product. Apple Business Team 2.0. Get the benefit of the Apple Culture with a startup's culture and sales reward potential.
Cons
Growing rapidly can cause it's bumps in culture. Middle Management can be very type be very type be very type A and micro-manager type. Middle management hasn't adjusted to the JAMF carefree nerfwar culture. Career paths aren't clear as the company reacts to growth and new positions.

One of the biggest jokes out there
Nov 6, 2018 - Senior Systems Engineer in Minneapolis, MNRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
If you like Apple devices, you're in luck. You get a company MacBook Pro and iPhone. That's about it, really.
Cons
If you're not a managers 'favorite', best of luck keeping your job. Middle management has a Boys Club mentality. So if you're not one of them, you're just a parasite in the way. Be prepared to be bullyed and targeted. Directors turn the cheek when management does this, and HR doesn't stop it from happening. In addition to that, there is very little opportunity for growth. Once you get your position, you're pretty much stuck there unless you quit or at least threaten to quit.
