I have been working at Janie and Jack part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    *Small close knit staff
*Small stores make easy to keep a polished look at all times
*Ability to connect with regulars -Grand Parents/new parents who will stay with
      you for years
    *Very few major changes year-year
*Even when product volume increases it's manageable unlike large stores
*New corporate ownership with a solid company that will reinstate practices JJ was built on!
*With proper experienced store management JJ is a great first job to learn customer service and teamwork

    Cons

*Not enough payroll for caliber of customer service required/especially for a store that offers gift boxing
*Many corporate changes in years past, the trickle down effect never offered proper training to execute the changes
*District managers directly voice blame on themselves not making bonus because of stores
*Disconnected District Managers who manage from behind email
*Not all stores have the capability to order the larger sizes or special occasion wear while they have the customer in store -we can one on one assemble complete outfits even though it has to be ordered give us the avenue to do so!
*Lost it's baby boutique feel/customers still pine for the older bags and boxes and pretty pastels/dark navy is too harsh -many many gripes about it
*Allocation of product needs work. If a store in one area has an abundance of swimsuits at the end of the season take steps to get that product to an area that will sell them before they are marked down to nothing.

    Advice to Management

The brand was recently purchased and has so much potential. Small changes with ability to order in ALL stores, a Special Occasion limited time return policy similar to prom dress return policies would be most helpful. The company had a great outlook on customer service and how to get tasks done while offering a great customer experience years ago. It is time to revisit those steps, Janie and Jack should be the boutique on the tip of everyone's tongue.
Keep in mind different regions have different customers, if a store is succeeding do not harp them on the way they converse with customers in the area. Some people honest shop to relax and do not want an associate attached to them, teach team members how to read their customer at all points of interaction.
Reward teams, not just the SM, sometimes a three minute phone call thanking a team member goes a long way.

I have been working at Janie and Jack full-time

    Pros

    Great benefits and bonuses.

    Cons

For the amount of work and lack of training to progress, the pay didn’t compensate.

    Advice to Management

Pay well to lessen turnover. People leave the company because of the amount of work they do vs pay.
