    Pros

chance to create a therapy for AD

    Cons

Mgmt is so political and backstabbing. Corporate JnJ people are slow as dirt and can't make decisions. Mgmt thinking is 20yrs old. not innovative at all and will not take risks. doesn't listen to more seasoned biotech people within their own company. doesn't belong in the bay area or biotech business

    Advice to Management

integrity is important to your employees

I have been working at Janssen full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nothing, harsh but true. Some of the people are nice but I get a pit in my stomach on Sunday night knowing I have to work here in the morning!

    Cons

Disorganized, terrible training, everyone doing things differently, ask 10 people get 10 answers, boring job with too much administrative tasks, I don't really have any REAL responsibility, too many people need to be involved in simple tasks, a trained monkey could do this job.

    Advice to Management

Less people involved in mundane tasks- give people who have the talent RESPONSIBILITY and not stupid lame things to do.

I worked at Janssen full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

the benefits are great. could not find a better company as far as benefits go. however, they are VERY stingy with vacation time

    Cons

the culture at this company is the worst I have ever been a part of. There was a "hunger game" mentality. I watched co-workers waste unbelievable amounts of money just to make their expense reports look like they were actually working.

    Advice to Management

Stop hunting down your experienced reps. They are the ones who convey a professional attitude and appearance and have the knowledge base that the offices are looking for.

    Pros

The majority of the reps are decent, enjoyable people. The position is a good stepping stone to a different pharma company.

    Cons

Management is loaded with dishonest sharks.
    Micro-managers are the norm.
Compensation lags behind other pharma companies.
Raises are skimpy, even with good HR reviews.
    Room sharing at meetings.
Primary care reps are treated as inferior beings.

    Advice to Management

Quit preaching the J&J Credo and start practicing it!!!

    Pros

Other than fair compensation and benefits there is nothing exceptional about the compensation package. Work life balance is OK on paper but you cannot afford to take off without being overwhelmed when you return to work. If you like a high stress, challenging environment, you may like working here but it is not for everyone.

    Cons

Dishonest leadership. Show favoritism. Unrealistic expectations. Hypocritical on credo and diversity. High turnover of good talent. Terrible odor from waste treatment. Poor control of HVAC throughout. Workers don't answer credo survey honestly due to fear of retaliation and survey is always completed before performance review.

    Advice to Management

Recognize true contributors not just 'chosen ones' who get but don't deserve credit. Provide sufficient resources and manage intelligently. Be honest on credo and diversity and show integrity in all your actions. Talk is cheap. Be fair and balanced in how you treat each employee. Recognize and mange diversity. Don't just say you support it.

I have been working at Janssen full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Seriously there is nothing to be proud of except for feeling of working for J&J company.

    Cons

12hr work day, dirty office spaces, no room for sick time off, extremely poor work life balance, negative competition amongst managers, no resources for training, cafe food is unappetizing, poorly maintained drinking water units, empty talks of worklife balance and J&J Credo - They are not hold true.

The Finance team at Janssen is know for working some crazy hours. Yes, you read it right. Most of the analysts are working more than 70 hours a week. Things just gets worse during month/quarter end closes. Management will never acknowledge your efforts by putting overtime and instead throw more work at your desk.

Management does not have industry experience and technical accounting knowledge to guide team in right direction. As a result managers do not agree with each other where there is impact across other accounting teams.

Managers will put blame on you when your reach out to them for guidance and ask you to work independently.

It is very difficult to even ask for sick time off, managers seem very uncomfortable if your request to take day off to recover. The reason is that managers do not want to be held responsible for any inquiries from other finance teams in your absence. This again ties to them not having technical accounting knowledge in application to manufacturing setting.

Except minimum to zero transitional training when you start new with team, it helps a bit if you are applying internally and have a J&J experience of over 3 years.

ERP systems are not set up correctly and often do not provide the level of detail you may require to analyse any transaction.

I would recommend anyone who is currently employed to stay clear of this firm, those who are currently unemployed can take their chance as they have noting more to lose. But be prepared to get tortured by managers and peers.

Honestly there are other job opportunities worth seeking. Save yourself from stress levels that are alarmingly harmful to your health and work life balance.

    Advice to Management

I would reward the team for their efforts and help those who need little bit of assistance to succeed. Establish trust among the managers and teams, open up two way communication so team can freely share their thoughts, evaluate the workload and seek additional resources where needed. Share my knowledge and experience with team so they can learn and develop their skills. encourage open door policy, back up analysts when necessary. Help leaders set realistic expectations from team.

I worked at Janssen full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great health benefits and 401K Plan

    Cons

They do not advance or promote their Administrative Professionals. Dead-end job/position. AAs are treated poorly and disrespected by senior executives; a fact that is known company wide yet condoned and part of their culture across the entire company. Treated like maids and waitresses by VPs with big egos.

    Advice to Management

Do a better job of removing VPs who berate and disrespect AAs. When you have VPs who go thru (6) AAs the solution is to remove the VP, not the (6) AAs!
