I have been working at Janssen full-time

    Pros

A lot of focus on personal development and work-life balance. Good culture for striving to do things well and fair. Pays attention for having capable managers, not only good scientists, in charge.

    Cons

Janssen has acquired a lot of small companies, the culture in these might not reflect what Janssen wants to strive for. Sometimes seems that tasks are meaningless, not focusing for end products.

    Advice to Management

Better focus on what kind of management team members are in the sub-companies - this highly affects the culture in those parts of Janssen.

I have been working at Janssen full-time

    Pros

-Generally pleasant colleagues and working environment
-People passionate and professional about what they do
-Credo can be a good unifier

    Cons

-While a minority, poor and abrasive leaders exist (watch out!) and the company does nothing to weed them out or correct their behavior. Instead they seem to promote them or transfer them to other departments
-Credo can be twisted to justify lots of behaviors

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to what employees are saying about their manager, and not just vice versa

I have been working at Janssen full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very laid back environment and very friendly people.
Low stress environment if you know what you are doing.

    Cons

Somewhat behind in platforms/technologies/innovation to carry out novel research.
    IT is horrendous!
Promotions beyond the Scientist/Sr. Scientist level is extremely difficult.

    Advice to Management

Acknowledge the accomplishments/hard work of those junior level/associate positions.

I worked at Janssen full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They value a respectful environment, diversity inclusion and bias-free decisions. Compensation package is good and, although more aligned to Consumer goods market thant to Pharma, this is solved with a lot of onsite convenience benefits.

    Cons

Local business lack strategic alignment with Global business. Local business leadership is too risk averse and when trying to innovate, the walk more in the direction of reinventing the wheel than searching for some disruptive solution.

    Advice to Management

Try a bimodal approach, pushing the business to be innovative not only on medicine level. While the business requires a conservative approach due to compliance reasons, it is always good to keep an eye on how to disruptively (and legally) solve a business challenge with a never taken approach.
