I have been working at Japan External Trade Organization full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It is a small team, so you can do whatever you would like to. If you are a self-motivative person, you will enjoy the job.

    Cons

The job depends on your boss. It means if you have a really good boss, you will probably enjoy your work. If not, you should leave or be patient for three years since your boss from Japan will change every three years.

    Pros

    - Lots of opportunities to meet reps from big corporations and local governments
    - Easy to request a day off
    - Relatively good health insurance
    - They will not fire you unless you are accused of sexual harassment at work

    Cons

    - Takes forever to change/amend their rules
    - No leadership
    - No work ethic/ moral
    - New, innovative ideas are not welcome
    - Most important to follow their rules and the head office in Tokyo
    - If you are hired locally, there is a slim or NO chance to promote no matter how long you work for the organization
