I worked at Jarden as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Good place to work. Good coworkers who focus on delivering a good product

    Cons

Small division means you'll wear a lot of different hats. Can be hard to advance since there's not a lot of places to advance to.

    Advice to Management

Work on growing the brands and growing market penetration beyond existing demographics. More people buying means more growth for everybody.

    Pros

    Professional work environment overall
    Good people overall

    Cons

Leadership could be a little stronger
Not enough autonomy to do your job - some micro managing
Not enough support staff to manage workload in some positions

    Advice to Management

Need more consistency in Management style with each Department. Provide enough support staff to Sales team, so they can focus on selling product and fostering relationships.

    I worked at Jarden full-time

    Pros

Forward thinking, taking safety to high tech advancements. Fast paced and creative. Illinois based company with engineering and marketing in same building located in Aurora, I
    Illinois.

    Cons

Need to be able to change hats sometimes on a weekly basis. Priorities do change consistently as technology changes but that is the state of business in general today. Marketing and engineering do not typically see eye to eye but are respectful. Show your worth asap or you will be replaced.

    Advice to Management

Easy to lose some perspective of your product when the bottom line is the number one priority. When you manufacture life safety products the bottom line and the quality of your products have to have equal importance.

I worked at Jarden as an intern

    Pros

Great hands on team where it was clear that the higher-ups really cared about us as interns and valued what we had to offer.

    Cons

The only main con I saw was that everyone was very old-fashioned in their thinking and because the company is so established, it's hard to start generating new ideas that go against what already exists.

    Advice to Management

I don't have much advice other than listen to a younger audience as well as your veterans as fresh ideas aren't always detrimental, and would be useful in this case.
