I have been working at Jarvis Christian College (Less than a year)

    Pros

Jarvis Christian College, is a great place to work. Jarvis, is mission oriented and management truly invest in talent to provide for the best performance outcomes.

    Cons

I do not have any negative thing to say about the college. I truly recommend Jarvis, especially young professionals!

I have been working at Jarvis Christian College full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Tremendous environment. Students are eager to take instruction. Administration is transparent and fully vested in student success.

    Cons

Some people who are holdovers from previous administrations harbor bitterness for being passed over for promotions. As with any organization, not everyone is on board for change. President is too nice because he allows those who are very negative and critical remain on staff. I'd fire them for insubordination.

    Advice to Management

Some people who don't share the vision become toxic. When people are doing well, celebrate them. When they aren't doing well, sternly correct them. No passes given!

    Pros

Small school, so you really get to know your students and other staff members.
Older alums had great experiences which let you know that at some point the school was great.

    Cons

    Huge lack of resources
President expects results but does not provide tools for employees to be successful
Nepotism at an ALL TIME high --- there are so many people employed here who are related. They meet NONE of the job qualifications. Which plays a role in the overall unsuccess of the College
Employees are treated as though they are disposable
President actually told the entire staff to "unplan their plans" and come in on a Saturday and work 12+ hours with absolutely NO comp time given.
    The vacation time is pitiful
Check out the recruitment vehicles... The red beat up corollas that are never, EVER fixed or equip to be on the road
Mismanagement of funds - example: Artist that came (famous) had to pay for his own gas when he came to Jarvis Fest because the Jarvis Exxon card declined.

    Advice to Management

The entire cabinet is corrupt; this is no exaggeration. From the president, to his "Mississppi Mafia," to the other infamous VP's. I generally do not write reviews about former jobs, but I have absolutely never worked anywhere this ridiculous in my entire life; it's like a live circus. I would not suggest that anyone take a job here even if you are desperate.
Stop bringing in friends and family, and actually hire people with credentials and experience.

I worked at Jarvis Christian College full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Trying to help the kids

    Cons

Getting projects approved for funding and unfair treatment

    Advice to Management

    Need to address the fair treatment of all employees no matter their race or religion; use the approved funds for the designated projects in a timely manner; don't force your students to vote for who you want them to vote for, they should have the right to select their own candidate;

I worked at Jarvis Christian College full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great opportunity to work across multiple divisions. It's such a small school, you can get lots of administrative experience while working as a faculty member.

    Cons

Located in a microscopic town. Much of the work load is passed off to younger/newer employees.

    Advice to Management

Tell your employees "Thank you." Sometimes it's okay to help some people decide to retire by not renewing their contract.

    Pros

The HR office is very helpful and friendly.

    Cons

The payroll office needs to be more professional in dealing with the employee payments.

    Advice to Management

They need to take a closer look at the student progresses and learning qualities, and provide the student success coaches.

    Small employer. Good co-worker relationships.

    Cons

Just about everything else--awful salaries and benefits; poor physical facilities; bad management, and on and on and on. Employees have not had meaningful raises in years! Job evaluations are done so poorly that they are meaningless.

    Advice to Management

Get a grip--try to get Jarvis Christian College up to the SECOND worst employer in the country!

    Cons

Long hours/weekends, administration is termed as the Mississippi Mafia..if your not in the elite crowd you will be treated poirly, no accountability top down, poor unethical practices. Worst place I ever worked
