I have been working at Jazz Pharmaceuticals full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Great colleagues. Good compensation/benefits package.

    Cons

Growing so fast that the company has lost touch with how it got to where it is.

    Advice to Management

Senior management should exhibit the same values you expect in people you hire below senior management.

I have been working at Jazz Pharmaceuticals full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some nice people. Could have a work and life balance.

    Cons

Upper management is not well deserved the high position which causing many incompetent people in the company. Communication is not transparent. The company vibes/energy is not right. It's not a lively and open environment. I know a lot of people don't have enough work to do wheres some are constantly overloaded.

    Advice to Management

Remove some bad seeds. If you don't it will impact whole company's performance and productivity. Retain the right talent.

I have been working at Jazz Pharmaceuticals full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Jazz has a good mission, is growing, has good benefits and is overall an OK company to work for.

    Cons

There is a lack of leadership in IT that means it is always running behind the business rather than being in front of it. The company is struggling with how to work globally which means lots of early mornings leading to long days.

    Advice to Management

    Replace the CIO

    Pros

Interesting products, great benefits, very smart colleagues
The company has products that do help patients and that's the best part about coming to work.

    Cons

Highly political, very much who you know and not based on merit
Tough environment that is overshadowed by lots of factions and power dynamics. Managers are unsupportive and have no problems throwing their staff under the bus both overtly and covertly.

    Advice to Management

Establish a better and more supportive culture where collaboration is the focus. Stop monitoring your staff and allow flexibility in schedules. Also offer more growth opportunities and punish those who aren't competent in their work instead of rewarding them with more headcount.

I have been working at Jazz Pharmaceuticals as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some of the NEW people are professional.

    Cons

    1) senior management that curses in meetings and throws previous directors, they have NEVER met, completely under the bus.
    2) Micro managers that also don't really know how to do their jobs because their primary experience is NOT in the field they are working in currently.
    3) It is a highly toxic environment. Back stabbing, truth twisting and trying to embarrass others in meetings including global meetings.

    Advice to Management

Start asking yourself WHY you can't attract talent in the bay area and when you do come across someone with extensive experience, align yourself with them and ask for help instead of firing them because you are threatened by them. Also, don't rely on employees who have experience outside of their current area of business. They will NOT know what they are doing and they do not know what they are doing.

    Pros

Great place to work. Good people, management actually seems to care about employees and about patients, good incentives, opportunities for growth.

    Cons

Certain areas of the organization seem to have a lot of fluff/people who aren't doing much. Others are so busy they can't see straight. Growing quickly and there isn't necessarily proper distribution of head count between groups.

    Advice to Management

Invest deeper in analytical infrastructure to rely less on contractors. Decrease the number of meetings under the banner of "everyone needing to collaborate" which at times make it impossible for people to get done real work. That said, overall it's an amazing place to work.

I have been working at Jazz Pharmaceuticals (More than a year)

    Pros

The company really wants to listen to what the employees have to say! They try to implement change based on feedback. Managers are down to earth, employees are friendly. We work hard and play hard! The compensation is great! Benefits, stock options, vacation etc are the best Ive ever seen.

    Cons

Some negativity amongst the employees, but that comes with any company you work for.
    Annual bonuses are "so so"
    Departments are too segregated.

    Advice to Management

You guys are doing great! Continue to listen to us and send out those feedback questionnaires more often!
Give back a little more to the employees in way of bonuses or stocks!
