I have been working at Jefferies full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Jefferies is one of the only remaining full service investment bank that has a powerful culture and a mission statement employees truly believe in. In an industry where compensation is similar wherever you go, culture, ownership and pride in your firm is the difference maker for employees and ones clients.

    Cons

It is currently a cyclically challenged business.

    Advice to Management

do all you can to sustain this powerful culture

I worked at Jefferies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It is a great learning experience and a great way to learn about the industry. Also, depending on your group, the pay could make it worth it.

    Cons

The biggest con is the typical issues that people have with investment banking. The hours are terrible and you have basically no life.

I worked at Jefferies as an intern

    Pros

The atmosphere was very collegial and definitely a tight culture. I got tons of deal experience and got to see a deal close, which was an amazing opportunity.

    Cons

Hours can be really brutal, it is a sweatshop to a degree but then again it is investment banking (long hours are to be expected).

    Advice to Management

Consider paying interns overtime, I know a couple other banks pay their interns overtime

I worked at Jefferies (Less than a year)

    Pros

There are some good associates that are very motivated to do good work. I enjoyed my work experience there

    Cons

Zero firm-wide culture despite Rich & Brian's monthly, repetitive newsletter. Since LUK acquisition, R&B much less visible and much less in touch.

    Advice to Management

Re-think compensation policies, invest in your people - they are the strength of the business, the platform is not strong enough to stand on its own.
