    Pros

The culture breeds success through competition, provided the markets are cooperating of course. There is no stifling bureaucracy or 25 layers of middle management. The focus is on the bottom line, so you can focus on doing the best possible job without the typical corporate BS. If you do not want to be part of large, impersonal organization with bumbling management, its a great place to work.

    Cons

You will not enjoy the "perks" of a typical corporate job, no gyms, very little training. If you are someone who needs a lifeline or a clear path to follow, instead of making your own path, then you may end up aimless.

    Advice to Management

Set up systems allow your employees to move around within the firm. I felt it was easier to look outside the company for a new type of role than it was to look within the company - I ended up going to a company that is a competitor in an area that Jefferies is trying grow in.

Exciting, nice and talented people, full of opportunities...

    Cons

Paid so so at beginning. They sell the potential opportunities.

    Advice to Management

The most talent may leave quickly if compensation does not catch up.

I have been working at Jefferies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Junior level employees given lots of challenging and meaningful work. Great exit opportunities. Excellent opportunity to work with intelligent and driven people.

    Cons

Long hours as an analyst, but doable. Limited deal opportunities due to smaller balance sheet, but that is changing quickly fortunately.

  6. "Interview"

    Pros

It's relaxing interview. I was asked some questions about finance, like swap yield curve, options and futures. And I did some questions about what I did in my academic courses, what my contribution was in the project.

    Cons

I think they hired the highest qualified people. People as a employee at Jefferies will have lots of knowledge about the financial markets. Your responsibility ranges from the beginning to the end.

I worked at Jefferies full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Dynamic and growing company that is much more flexible and agile than larger banking firms.

    Cons

No negatives except for complaints about IB broadly: not a great work life balance, work is not particularly rewarding or technically challenging.

I have been working at Jefferies full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Teamwork and learning, they pay you and train you to the fullest extent which is very hard to find. The exposure to deals is limitless as well.

    Cons

No cons unless you can't handle the hours.

    Advice to Management

I worked at Jefferies full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

You were treated as a partner/owner of the firm. Was a great place to work at one time. The place was truly a great place to work. The management was hands on and always made you feel important. Compensation was fair and everyone was generous. The CEO called you on your birthday! Every year! believe it.

    Cons

New management brought a different feeling...just a number. Keep your head down...

    Advice to Management

the old guard (Jefferies, Baxter, Bellucci, Shaw..) always treated you fairly and as a partner. that feeling and attitude seemed to have left with the new management that was brought in.
