I worked at Jefferson County Schools full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Large employer, great benefits, great superintendent

    Cons

No choice of which school you end up working for, some principals are horrible, students can be awful without recourse for teachers with the the new focus on keeping disruptive students in the classroom (which prevents everyone from learning).

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Jefferson County Schools part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

This is a great county, and the families are generally supportive of the teachers. Each individual school has its own "environment" and group of staff committed to the students.

    Cons

Too much upper management in the county, with too many people being paid higher salaries. Teachers and para professionals, people working with the students, should be paid more and it shouldn't be a political issue.

    Advice to Management

Pay the people working with the students a livable wage!
