I worked at Jefferson Regional Medical Center (Pennsylvania) (More than a year)

    Pros

The people are friendly and they help you with a lot of things, you are put right to work after they explain all the work that you have to do

    Cons

Little pay for all of that tedious cleaning, you really have to clean. And the sometimes you are followed around

    Advice to Management

Consider their employees and under stand that we are really cleaning all of those cords that connect the patients to life saving equipment.

    Pros

There are absolutely no Pros to speak of.

    Cons

Don't walk away from from this opportunity....RUN ! Run as fast and as far away as you can. Don't waste your time or jeopardize your career here.

    Advice to Management

Current administrators are immature, inexperienced, and completely inept.

I have been working at Jefferson Regional Medical Center (Pennsylvania) part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Co-workers are awesome to work with, very nice hospital and environment.

    Cons

I work part-time and wanted to go full-time, however, they wouldn't let any part-timers go full-time, yet hired two additional part-timers... sounds like a cheap way to get out of paying for benefits to me.... I will be leaving for this reason.

    Advice to Management

Instead of hiring 10 part-time employees in a single department, how bout offering long time LOYAL employees the option to go full-time!

I have been working at Jefferson Regional Medical Center (Pennsylvania) full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

not expensive to park. More convenient that city hospitals. Some physicians are just as good or better than their peers at the teaching hospitals.

    Cons

bullying seems contagious in some departments from management to non management and peers to other peers.

    Advice to Management

listen closely to employee concerns. Maybe stop by department meetings on the fly.

    Pros

Parking is cheap and easy. Benefits are good. Jefferson is easily accessible and traffic is not bad. It is an enjoyable place to be most of the time. Most things are easy to figure out and understand.

    Cons

Mediocre place to work. Too many employees have been there for too long and they are not innovative in their care. Supervisors are out of touch and do not treat professionals as professionals. Computer system is outdated and difficult to use at times. Changes are not made in a timely manner to help employees do their job better.

    Advice to Management

Increase outpatient services and revenue. Be sure management are doing their job well.

    Pros

    Great training provided, friendly environment

    Cons

The management is not truthful about the requirement of overnight shifts. Evening shift gets no lunch break during a full shift

    Advice to Management

Don't tell people during interviews that working the overnight shifts are "more optional than anything" after the person lets you know they can not work that schedule and then have the scheduling manager tell them once they are hired that they are required. Be honest, otherwise you are wasting both their time and yours because they will leave.

I worked at Jefferson Regional Medical Center (Pennsylvania) full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They were very respectful of scheduling needs.

    Cons

Some staff have more mental health problems than the patients. There is high turnover. Patients are not treated well. The unit is unsanitary. The afternoon shift especially are horrible and largely unsupervised. Most dangerous incidents happened during the evening shift with terrible staff. Evening staff would leave garbage overflowing at night in the common areas and the patients would have to sit among trash during breakfast. Staff are very lazy, passive-aggressive, and there is zero accountability from lacking management.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to staff complaints instead of ignoring them and hoping they'll go away. There are people working there who really shouldn't be.

I worked at Jefferson Regional Medical Center (Pennsylvania) full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Staff is very friendly and cohesive. Always willing to lend a helping hand to fellow coworkers. Lengthy, thorough orientation.

    Cons

Lower than average salary, majority of charting was still on paper, doctors are entitled and have nurses write orders for them and keep patients in ICU beds far longer than they need to be.

    Advice to Management

When an employee voiced concerns to you about not having a positive work experience, they should be paid attention to. Foster an environment of caring and teamwork and a willingness to empower your nurses instead of shifting that responsibility to others.
