Technical Account Manager

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

    Pros

Remote Work is a huge pro with this job

    Cons

the pro technically could be a con just because you never really ever get to see your co-workers.

At the centre of the creator economy

    Pros

    - You get to meet some of the most hardworking, passionate people who live and breathe the creator space and truly want to make a difference. - One of the best things about Jellysmack is that if you're keen to learn as much as you can, a few months can mean years in terms of experience. You get to wear many hats (if you want too) and there is huge opp for immense experience and learning directly under higher ups. - You have the ability to directly impact the business in a positive way, have the freedom to try out ideas and new business ops.

    Cons

    - Leadership do not care about supporting and compensating their internal employees fairly. Even if the employees go far beyond their job duties and make significant impacts on the business. The leadership would rather pay $$$ to get someone new than compensating internal employees fairly. - inability to move up - there is an unspoken glass ceiling for Partnerships. - consistently changing direction every week and a huge lack of communication - immense pressure on partnerships to achieve set quarterly goals.

this place is as weird as it sounds

    Pros

Work from home with option for WeWork. Competitive salaries in the US and decent benefits. 401K match. Good number of vacation days per year. Smart and talented people.

    Cons

They want you to be hyped on the "culture" which just ends up being a bunch of culty videos and posts they ask you to share on LinkedIn, while the company mantra, "go bigger" is really just about getting video views for junky content. Not a lot of room for upward mobility. Too much dependence on Facebook. Zero transparency into their financials, which makes their unicorn status that much more sketch. The speed they're growing at is suspect. Departments don't share common goals and it shows. Most of the business comes from the US but most of the workforce is in Europe, which puts a strain on collaboration and getting things done. The language barrier doesn't help. Ask in advance about the paid parental leave policy. Think twice about signing on to work on anything that's not their core product. They have been saying they would give employees equity now for almost a year and that has still not happened for most people. Negotiate it up front and don't let them tell you no.

Great company. Great benefits. Great team. If your a good fit for your role you will thrive.

    Cons

It’s all about your manager who you report to. If you don’t get things done on time or not what they expect. You’ll get fired

    Pros

Company is growing and expanding fast, exciting and fast paced environment, an incredibly positive culture

    Cons

Work from home indefinitely so not as much opportunity to learn from coworkers in real time, work with France team can be challenging because of time difference and sometimes a language barrier

    Pros

Lots of freedom, lots of opportunity to work on projects you're passionate about

    Cons

The company is fully remote and has leaders across the globe, lots of people aren't focused on the correct problems. C-Suite is just trying to impress investors not worrying about fundamental problems.
