    Pros

Nice people. Smart, helpful co-workers. Interesting work. Decent benefits. Flexible work environment.

    Cons

Big company. Slow to change and adopt new systems so people can do their work efficiently. Low pay for today's standards.

    Advice to Management

Pay people a livable wage and get systems in place that are consolidated and work efficiently.

I worked at Jeppesen full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Jeppesen really has products that make a difference.
The front-line people are marvelous, passionate about aviation and about their role in Jeppesen products. People are always willing to answer questions and discuss issues that are stumping you.
Benefits are excellent, since Jeppesen is a Boeing subsidiary.
Front-line supervisors are generally warm and personable. They often go out to lunch together.
For the most part, I loved my work.

    Cons

Tools and applications that had been developed in the 1990s, and are still critical for getting Jeppesen products out the door. Patching and cobbling together fixes. Good grief!
A variety of project management systems, depending (I think) on the PM. Some projects have defined timelines, some don't. Some have clear requirements or outcomes. Some have defined participants and roles. Some have periodic reporting built in, with modifications to budget/scope/timeline as needed. Some projects seem to have none of these...
Hire contractors with the plan to hire them as full-time employees in a few months if they prove the quality of their work, their attitude, etc. Yet some are still contractors, without benefits or PTO, a year or two later... or even the welcome to attend the Appreciation Lunch... while other new hires are brought in as FTE from day one. This isn't right.
Expecting all salaried FT employees to work Saturdays for free (in some departments) isn't right either.
Putting people on a PIP (and, often, layoff) is not the best managerial action. I was told that about a quarter of the employees in our department were on PIPs or had been recently. Managing through fear reduces the excitement that would otherwise be the basis for coming in to work.

    Advice to Management

Develop the tools and processes employees need to create what pilots and other customers want. (MicroStation, really?)
Create a standardized system across all Jeppesen, perhaps even in all of its countries: hire all new hires, even directors, as 90-day contractors. At the end of that time, end the contract and HIRE them as FTE.

I worked at Jeppesen full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Health and Dental Benefits
    Under Boeing umbrella
    Great co-workers
    Employee appreciation lunch
    Cafeteria in main Denver office
    Working with aviation enthusiasts

    Cons

No room for growth! Management could careless to help you move on. You will be stuck in your current position for a long time.Pay is pretty low for any job you do at this company. Once a year management "cleans house" (layoffs) and then hires the next month for the same position without explanation. Too many changes going on with this company. A lot of turn over as well. Definitely do your research before working here! Also, not enough parking spaces at Denver office. Most employees have to park offsite and are bused to work.

    Advice to Management

Help employees with career growth! Listen to your employees concerns about pay structure.

    Pros

Great work-life balance and good benefits.

    Cons

Managers are clueless and don't listen. Technology is outdated and the company in general is slow to respond to changes in the market and technology. They are behind the curve.

    Advice to Management

Stop building kingdoms and listen to the folks who actually do the work. Spend more time managing downstream and less time sucking up to upper management. Reward those who are doing excellent work and not those who do nothing but suck up.
