I worked at Jewish Community Center Denver full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

As a swim instructor, you have full control over your own schedule.

    Cons

If you are a minority employee, you will be harassed, fight against prejudice and discrimination, and never be valued by your employer. Management uses you to your breaking point, and HR couldn’t care less about your issues. When you leave, they (the management team) becomes very bitter, hateful, and try to destroy your reputation. This agency does not uphold any of the Jewish values it claims. Your only reward is you experience with your clients: The people you serve are amazing. You will miss them, and other parents, but that is it...

    Advice to Management

Start over with a new team...

I worked at Jewish Community Center Denver full-time

    Pros

Community, diverse events and departments, childcare discounts and gym memberships for employees

    Cons

Upper-level management is running the JCC into the ground and as a result turnover is high and a lot of employees worked in fear of losing their jobs and/or fed up with the ridiculously poor mismanagement of staff and funds.

I worked at Jewish Community Center Denver full-time

    Pros

There are a few nice and dedicated employees who do their job and do it well.

    Cons

Horrible communication, ever-changing policies, people in upper management who have absolutely no business running a department. Very frustrating work environment.

    Pros

Midlevel and lower staff are very nice.

    Cons

This place is under new management. Everything has changed and 1/2 the staff been fired or quit.

    Advice to Management

Please bring the "community" back to the J! It's just sad there now.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

The people. They genuinely care for the organization and its members.

    Cons

The politics. Just because someone donates money should not allow them to come in and dictate everything. Lots of nepotism, low morale.

    Advice to Management

Employees make or break a company. Unhappy employees and unhappy members is not good for the bottom line.

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Jewish Community Center Denver full-time

    Pros

I worked with many different departments at the Denver JCC, and found that while the people were kind, team-oriented and well-meaning. Also, the facility itself was pleasant to work in. Being around a community was also great.

    Cons

The institutional red tape and lack of leadership from above paralyzed employees below. Also, questionable allocation of staff provided little confidence in leadership. With that said, much of the leadership at the top has been replaced, which may have caused change more recently.

    Pros

I enjoyed the environment there. your around a lot of kids and older generation. the center also has great benefits and time off

    Cons

The jcc did not offer the best compensation. You can find these positions at other places with more pay.

    Advice to Management

if you up the salary maybe more people would consider staying longer. and there wouldn't be such a large turnover

I have been working at Jewish Community Center Denver full-time

    Pros

Work-life balance is amazing. Most of the people there are exceptionally nice.

    Cons

Culture lacks accountability and loathes change. Pay is really, really low.

    Advice to Management

Examine your salary structure - you are not at all competitive and people can't pay the bills with a free sports and fitness center membership.
