Too Much Pressure on Guests and CSAs
May 14, 2017 - General Manager in Saint Louis, MORecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I enjoyed learning about vehicle maintenance and working on cars. I learned a lot of managerial and customer service skills while working with this company. There are days where you have a lot of downtimeere are days where you have a lot of downtimeere are days where you have a lot of downtime and can be low stress at times. They offer programs to become a certified State Inspector Mechanic as well as get ASE certified. There are also decent bonuses at the management level. Lube technicians even bonused off and on while I was with the company.
Cons
The pressure to get ticket average is out of control. I focused on building a customer base by telling the customers the truth about what they actually needed to get done according to their manufacturer's recommendations as well as the condition of different vehicle components. Sadly, I was by far the exception, and my customers knew it. I did not pressure customers at all and was still consistently one of the top Customer Service Advisor's in my region for years. The company actually encourages you to pressure people. They inadvertently (and to be honest, often times knowingly) encourage employees to lie and exaggerate to customers to get ticket average up because the majority of emphasis is placed on ticket average. This is insane to me, because even when a store is consistently growing in overall profit due to customer traffic because they know they have built trust with you and enjoy receiving legitimate feedback about their vehicle, that is never good enough. Profit and growing the business should be the bottom line, not trying to coerce customers into spending their last few pennies on a $150 transmission flush to get your ticket average up. This was by far my biggest issue with the company and is what made Jiffy Lube get the bad rap they get for lying to customers and scamming them. Way too much dishonesty for me. You would not believe some of the things I've seen the most "successful" managers in Jiffy Lube due. Totally unacceptable. And they company will never do a thing about it because those individuals have a high ticket average, even if they are screwing people over in the process.

" Management and Corporate need to help employees and benefit them"
Oct 24, 2014 - Lube Tech in Arlington, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The training is phenomenal you can learn a lot through their training if you had more time but unfortunately they don't so that's the downside. Pay is good for CSA and Assistant manager not the best but its ok. They have flexible schedules.
Cons
This company needs to care more about their employees they pay a crap wage to lube techs and treat other employees harsh when they don't meet company goals. They get mad when we offer $24.99 yet we advertise it, you have to go outside whether it's hot or cold P.S. I live in Texas and gets pretty hot and cold. We have to wave and we get paid bad wages to do it. Managers are the worst in my experience and Corporate is just very bad due to the fact they say they care but in all reality they don't.

Pros
Computer based training was very boring but I was able to gain a lot of knowledge from it. Not much hand on training followed which was a big bummer.
Cons
Very poor management in many areas when it came to scheduling and keeping inventory.

Get out what you put in
May 7, 2015 - General Sales and Operations Manager in Greensboro, NCRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Bonus structure. Work life balance. Lots of reviews on here complain about work life balance. Find a retail / customer service store in any capacity where the manager works 9-5 Monday through Friday. Then send it to me because it doesn't exist. Coming from a resturant where I pulled 65-75 hours a week , 55 is totally cool. Lots of days I leave at 5. Some days I work 12 hour days. Always have sunday off and one other day during the week.
Cons
Working most Saturdays. Hot in summer , cold in winter. Employees pay for uniforms. I actually work for Lucor , not jiffy lube. Which is ok but a franchisee will never have the financial muscle and stability of a bigger company. But lucor is the biggest of the jiffy lube franchises and publicly traded so it's pretty good.
