Not Too Bad
Sep 17, 2022 - Assistant Manager in Fort Lauderdale, FLRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Like every Corporate America job, it has its ups and downs. The upper management tries their best to train and groom employees. You get all the benefits and their is great opportunities to grow
Cons
High turnover. You can be transferred in a heartbeat. Promotion to store manager can be challenging, even if you have store manager experience.

Pros
The guys I worked with were decent and respectful, that was for my location at least. When I transferred to other locations the employees were very unprofessional. The upper management were demanding but could be reasoned with if you have the courage to actually call them and talk to them. I was able to negotiate with the district manager this way. If you have the motivation and work-ethic you can move up through the ranks to a general or district manager is that is something you want.
Cons
The corporate side did not understand how the shop actually runs and would frequently make unfair quotas for sales and timing, but if you do your best and can make friends with the DM, you'll be fine. The biggest issue I personally faced was scheduling. If you do not fight for yourself, they will make you work short shifts every day if they can. Be very clear on the days and times you can and can not work.

A decent starter job.
Apr 5, 2017 - Assistant Manager in Snohomish, WARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
It's good if you're looking to land your first job, need some extra work, or want to accumulate some general automotive knowledge (granted you know little to none like I did). Depending on the manager, you may or may not have flexible hours. Benefits are available to full time employees after a certain period of time (not sure how good as I never used them). I always formed a good bond with my coworkers and we generally worked well as a team.
Cons
Customers are outrageously disrespectful at times, especially if you are a woman. Upper management (general manager and above) will lie to you and make promises that are rarely fulfilled. The turnover rate is extremely high and you likely won't be with the same crew for more than a couple months. If you are hardworking they will overwork you and assign extra duties with no additional pay. We were extremely shortstaffed a lot of the time which put a ding in overall morale and performance. There is a bonus plan if you meet monthly quota but only the general manager gets the payout.

Pros
Pays the bills. You get to enjoy the fresh air. Good learning experience. Good way to learn managing a store.
Cons
65+ hours a week. No raise in years. you are always on thin ice with upper management (you get 1 bad review and get scolded). Constantly getting calls on my day off from the district manager. They say don't pressure people to buy, but get mad if you don't achieve your daily budgets.

Dysfunctional leadership at its finest
May 16, 2023 - Store Manager in Sacramento, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
You learn about cars but not from a professional. You can work on your own car at a discount. And they're not open on Sundays well some locations.
Cons
Again completely dysfunctional and inexperienced upper management. The RM do not communicate with each other to make a cohesive policy environment for the team members. The director of HR is a one woman show who thinks that her word is law and frankly she should go back to some schooling to understand HR and what her position truly is. Her position should be a balance between the company and the team member and all she cares about is the company. And in fact I have fielded several complaints against her about her rude Behavior towards team members when they come to her with a complaint and she doesn't follow through with said complaint. The director of operations has a heart of gold but no operational knowledge whatsoever and should not be in the position he holds. He needs to have much more experience in the field and working directly with team members and managers before he takes on an operational leadership role. The man seems like he hasn't worked a day in the field in the shop or under a hood to even understand operations. And again communication between upper management is 100% key it should be consistent from one RM to the next RM to the director of operations to the director of hr. But this is what you get when you don't train anyone on California law meal and rest. Sexual harassment violence in the workplace none of that is taught to any of the management team or team members for that matter. It is again a completely unprofessional and dysfunctional environment to its core.

fun place to work, higher management would always treat anybody lower like dirt.

Fun, easy, good experience.
Cons
Pay could be better. Needs upper management to be better to their employees and not so money hungry.

Pros
Laid back, no skill set needed. Training available. If promise is shown, the opportunity to advance is available.
Cons
Compensation, revolving door policy, ever changing demands and expectations. Lack of follow through from upper management

Pros
I left and seen how dirty the industry is first hand.
Cons
The corruption is well organized. One shop in Orlando report a nonrepaiable tire every day and that is like the only tires sales. Upper Management spreads the advice. And of course it is from the owner and Director when it is all around Upper Management. I would say this in court too. Oh, and they don’t go by the basi EPA rules containment’s, Spill Kits, Oil Leaks. Money in the bank only. They don’t care about the contamination of drinking water. They know not to drink it. It is all around a group that goes a back to several companies before they go under. The sales pressure is really hard on employees that need a job and they turn.
