I worked at Jimmy John's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It was a very laid back job and something that allowed me to go to school on the side with ease.

    Cons

Pay was not great at all and management was not the best.

    Advice to Management

Be more personable and hire better people under you.

I worked at Jimmy John's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Delivery on bike is awesome. Great workout. Little interference with management, they let you do your thing for the most part. It is a great part time position if you find yourself working lunch shifts 10:30am-1:30pm, this is where the tips roll in and add up fast! If you can work near businesses, as opposed to working in the suburbs, you will make much more money in tips and will be able to deliver more catering orders (this is where the big bucks come from).

    Cons

I had an areal manager who was a micromanager that everyone hated to be around. Besides that sometimes you can have problems with the sandwich artists who work in-shop. Most of them are pretty cool though, so not much to worry about there. I worked in a sketchy neighborhood so I avoided working night shifts as much as possible. Night shifts can also be quite slow, boring, and you have to help clean up in-shop.

    Advice to Management

Most managers are awesome! All of the managers I met were super easy to work with and down to earth. Their requests were very reasonable and most of the tasks/jobs we did in-shop weren't too bad.

I have been working at Jimmy John's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Getting paid to spend most of my time driving has been pretty awesome. Good part time job for a college student

    Cons

The turnover rate is pretty high and the higher ups do not care about their employees

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the ridiculous mayo scoop

I worked at Jimmy John's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

*Tips - The tips were the best part of the job, aside from my co-workers

*Short Shifts - The longest shift I ever worked was 5 hours. On average I worked 2 to 3.5 hours shifts during the lunch rush

    Cons

*Company Culture - Our motto 'Freaky Fast' really starts to become a pain after a while. While I was lucky, the customers mostly understood if I was a few minutes late, however my Manager/The Owner would chew me out for even being a minute late. All our deliveries had to be done in 20 minutes. Didn't matter how many you had or if you caught traffic, they would get mad at you.

*Inconsistent schedules - Each week I had new hours, never the same schedule once. It may have just been my location, since my managers kept saying you'd get more hours the better you did the previous week.

    Advice to Management

Honestly I cannot give any specific advice. Because it is franchised, each location will be very hit or miss depending on your co-workers and management.

    Pros

Friendly atmosphere, relaxed job, gas is re-imbursed

    Cons

Difficult hours for college campuses (working until 3 AM)

    Advice to Management

Employees could use better discounts - $0.50 discount for sandwiches seems a bit small.

I worked at Jimmy John's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

This gig is pretty straightforward and exactly what you'd expect out of a part-time summer job.

    Biking
    Decent tips
    Easy service industry work
    Flexible schedule
    Paid training

    Cons

    Service industry
    Homeless/drunk/drug crowd
As a rush worker, you're often the first to get cut
CEO has a moral compass that doesn't always point north
Employee's that have worked for longer are given more/better deliveries...very much a social climbing atmosphere

    Advice to Management

Some of the employees at this location were unfriendly and abrasive towards new employees because they didn't want them there...they would rather get the hours and money for themselves. Seek ways to encourage hard working employees while allowing them to feel secure in their own jobs without having to "corner" the market.
