I have been working at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Crafty and inspiration a bound.

    Cons

I work in AZ and minimum wage went to $10/hr. I have worked at Joann's for over 3 years and now only have a 15 cents above minimum wagers. Okay stepping stone, but don't expect a career.

    Advice to Management

Reward all employees, not just DMs to bull whip stores so they can have a bigger bonus.

I have been working at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Talented, dedicated people throughout the organization; community-minded company; on-trend assortment of creative products; fun team-building events; sample sales

    Cons

Limited opportunities to grow with the company; folks tend to get pigeonholed into a particular role without getting a chance to reach their full potential

    Advice to Management

Take a closer look at the people on your teams. They are talented, passionate people who deserve the opportunity to grow professionally. Hiring from the outside isn't always the answer.

I have been working at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Discount is nice, sometimes discount will go up to 30% for 2-3 days then back to 20.

    Cons

Hire more people, sometimes when the manager (Depends on who it is) is mad with you they will cut your hours. Not fair! If the pay was better instead of minimum wage, they would be able to keep more employees. Its more part-timers than full-timers. You have to work another job just to pay bills.

    Advice to Management

Better pay, too many coupons that's why stores are not able to make the money, if employees are over in their time, their hours get cut to less days a week. That store has to pay payroll back because of the overage in employees time! Hire more people! Talk to your employees.... ask them.
