I worked at JoS. A. Bank (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great co workers, flexible hours

    Cons

Hard work to meet sales goals and management always finds a reason to not pay you commission. Human resources department is totally clueless. They have absolutely no knowledge of the retail industry.

    Advice to Management

Retail should be mandatory experience for HR employees. Pay your emotes there worth...without a good Sales staff (who gets minimum wage) where would your sales be?

I worked at JoS. A. Bank full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decent client base, small on hand inventory

    Cons

Management actively encourages sexual harassment from clients and customers to boost sales. Upper management does not assist or step in when requested.

    Advice to Management

Learn to use email instead of faxing 100 pages of corporate updates every single morning. Do not value clients sales over employee safety.

I worked at JoS. A. Bank part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I was fortunate to have a manager who took the time to pour into me sales best-practices. Lots of opportunity to work one-on-one with customers to develop useful client-facing skills.

    Cons

Unless working as a store manager, this is not a long-term opportunity.

I worked at JoS. A. Bank (More than a year)

    Pros

It was a great place to work to get sales experience and learn new techniques on how to sell products. All of my coworkers were great and were willing to help me out when I needed it.

    Cons

Some days it gets really slow and you wont sell much so the commission varies week to week by a significant amount, but commission is great over the holidays.

    Advice to Management

give the sales associates more freedom to make deals with customers and help make the sales that the company wants.

I worked at JoS. A. Bank (Less than a year)

    Pros

Making 8% commission from any sale which can help increase your paycheck.

    Cons

The problem is that because everyone is expected to make commission, include THE MANAGERS and YOUR SUPERVISOR, that there a tendency for abuse in power to make more money.

    Advice to Management

Make so that the managers are not required to make commission. Everything expect to make commission are set at the playing field. None of this seniority or rank BS.

    Pros

Atmosphere was always a plus. Everyone was friendly and had a good time selling and earning commission.

    Cons

The fact that the sales change almost every day makes it impossible as a part time employee to keep up with them. It makes us look like we don't know our product when we have to constantly check the price.

    Advice to Management

Stick with a price for longer than a day

Former Employee - Sales Associate in Rock Hill, SC

    Pros

My position was in Rock Hill, SC. A small to medium volume store. it was pretty relaxed with a total of 8 employees on the payroll including the tailor. We were all friendly too each other, and work went smooth. The customers are generally friendly with little problems. They also know the product is good, so if they have the money they are going to buy, its your job to get them to buy more. The Pay goes: minimum wage to 8.50 OR commission which ever is more.

    Cons

Not many cons it was a nice job if your good at sales.

    Advice to Management

The management was really good at my store. Robert was a good boss.
