    Pros

Diversity of care, ability to be creative in job duties. Room to grow knowledge base. Meeting people outside my personal comfort zone. Learning about access for the community to resources.

    Cons

Low wage, infrequent raises, cost of benefits. Paper charting in place of the electronic health record made record keeping a longer process than necessary.

    Advice to Management

Show more appreciation for your employees.

I have been working at Job Corps as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people here are nice and you can make friends very easily. There is good food, and the staff do what they need to do to keep this place organized.

    Cons

There isn't really anything bad about the place, except for the fact that I ran across a few bears.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. Everything that the place has got going on is relevant to the point of it's existence.

    Pros

They help you out however they can. They try to get you going in life. They get you certified in a trade of your choice.

    Cons

Very strict guidelines. You must follow the rules to the letter, it is a government facility. It is for ages 16 to 24. So you get immature people.

    Advice to Management

Give a little bit more freedom to the children and let them make more decisions for them selves. Not force it down there throat.

I worked at Job Corps full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Helping the students was the greats part of my job. I loved being able to see them leave and get great jobs, some making more than I did!

    Cons

There are always cons with every employer. The management team seemed to tie our hands more and more, which made it harder to achieve goals.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the line staff and take what they say to heart. We are all there to do the same job, and that is to help the students.

I worked at Job Corps full-time

    Pros

If you missed your chance to get a High School Diploma and are under the age of 24, then you can get another chance by going to Job Corps. They help you with all your adult life needs. Even getting you Drivers License of you never got it. Also training in a desired trade of your choice. (Exmp. Security, Electrical, Carpentry, Office Addmin.)

    Cons

Rules are a bit tough. Sometimes they treat you like a kid. Lots of immature people there.

    Advice to Management

Let people grow up. Don't punish them like children. Treat them like adults even the harsh punishments adults have to face in life.

I have been working at Job Corps full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The working environment and co-workers are friendly and create an atmosphere that is energetic and inspiring. Job Corps holds its employees and students to a high standard and promotes among all other values, respect. The hours are great and you spend a large portion of the work day out on trips such as bowling, movie going, lazer tag, ect.

    Cons

Sometimes management can seem to be disorganized. Students can be difficult and disciplinary action has to be taken. You may have to disappoint students because not everybody can attend rec trips. The pay could also be better.

    Advice to Management

Sometimes management can be disorganized. However, I have experienced good management and have no complaints besides a small lack or organization.

    Cons

Shifty hours because of it being a 24 hour facility.

    Advice to Management

I started out in the residential department and now advanced to substitute instructor.
