I have been working at Joe's American Bar & Grill part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The food is awesome, and there are lots of opportunities to take care of the guests (comp meals, refire food, etc).

    Cons

Small sections, little management support of personal or financial needs, occasionally shady practices towards paychecks and timekeeping.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your employees as much as you focus on the guests.

    Pros

Staff is amazing! We worked so well together. Everyone has busy lives, most have multiple jobs, or in school, and every one is understanding of that. We support one another.

    Cons

Management picks favorites; lets certain servers go home, lets favorites stay. Gives busier shifts to those they like.

    Advice to Management

    Be fair.

    I worked at Joe's American Bar & Grill part-time

    Pros

Good food, lots of available shifts, great employee discount/meals, friendly management team. Joe's is the kind of restaurant that old people love, because young people don't go there. It's also a hot spot for business lunches, so don't expect any heavy tippers on their AMEX cards. I must say that the Woburn location as the BEST MUSIC of any restaurant that I have been to or worked at.

    Cons

The customer average age sucks. Almost all old people who buy a plain hamburger and water, and later complain about the music being too loud. Lot's of people coming in off the highway looking for a cheap bite to eat with their families, only to find out that this restaurant has the look of a chain, with the price of a fine dining.

    Advice to Management

Spend some time trying to decide who your target audience is. Young or old? Make some changes to the menu and decor if you want to attract a younger audience.

Clients were usually very nice and the cooks were very talented and nice

    Cons

Staff was often very catty and management was not very friendly

  10. "The managers are great to the customers but not to the staff."

    Pros

The tips are great at Joe's, especially during the holiday season since it's located inside of the mall. You get to meet a lot of interesting people and the other staff is very friendly. You aren't working super late because they close at 10.

    Cons

The managers are rude, and frankly the GM says racist things quite regularly. They take great care of their customers but they don't treat the staff with very much respect.

    Advice to Management

If you take care of your staff they will want to be at work and they will also do their job better. If you're going to pick favorites, at least make it less evident.
