I worked at John Crane full-time

    Pros

In the past 2 years........ None

    Cons

No room to grow. Management spreads rumors and have no control on their departments. They either lost or laid off all of their best people due to a business quickly going down the drain.

    Advice to Management

It's as simple as taking care of your best guys. You scratch our back we scratch yours. Instead of threatening people, try listening!

I worked at John Crane full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I can't think of anything good to share, because the new mgmt is terrible, they share the company direction. The CEO says it but the mgmt doesn't follow it

    Cons

Used to be a great company to work at until the new support services mgr started, and his lead supervisors have no clue of what's going on or how to solve problems. Poor communication within the dept causes bad moral. Mgr called his first meeting after 1.5 yrs to ask for help the new support services mgr started, and his lead supervisors have no clue of what's going on or how to solve problems. Poor communication within the dept causes bad moral. Mgr called his first meeting after 1.5 yrs to ask for help! Yikes!

    Advice to Management

Clean house from middle mgmt down

I worked at John Crane full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

When I start for first 5 years was good environment to learn and progress good people with a lot of knowledge but sadly living one by one

    Cons

Last five turn to be a continuos down fall at all level management, production quality and benefits for employee.
Low quality managers took over the retire once and create a over and bad managed place with no solutions for problems that we overpass before.
Example: one manager of department did the job before and after 6-7 people could make the department as functional as before.
And corruption at all level if was the case of promotion .

    Advice to Management

Don't know, fire your self starting with the English boys.

I worked at John Crane as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

good hourly rate, report to management, great mentors to learn from, always things to work on through out the internship

    Cons

Employees are often not organized, not very good for internship training, not involved with meetings, sometimes your the only one in the office.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management would be implementing a certain design to allow interns to learn throughout the entire company and not only specific departments.

    Pros

pay is okay. benefits are par at best. hours are good offer overtime on weekends

    Cons

management has no idea how to run a machine let alone program it. no clue the steps on how to make a good part. and upper management has even bigger blinders as to what goes on with their own shop floor. lots of empty promises and whining about how they are broke

    Advice to Management

talk to your employees. figure out whats going on. and actually do something about it. don't talk to just the engineers because they don't know either. you want us to work as a team then why act like you're above that.

    Pros

Birthday holiday, good 401k, other than that not much, decent pay. Decent safety program when not used in lies to employees.

    Cons

Top heavy on management, micro management of everyone, starts a lot of improvement projects but gets easily sidetracked with nonsense, management lies to employees, merit raises the same across the board and always very low, management treat employees with low regards, in a bid to save a few bucks management has done away with family interaction, many clueless employees that have tenure and have learnt to work system, company pushes to run as if it is located in the UK, mary new employees out of school that do not get trained properly. Narrow industry in fossil fuels, treats employees as a number, not a person... Etc.

    Advice to Management

Look and listen to your common employees, be honest with your employees, stop with the fluff because employees see through it all.

    Pros

    Cons

    Pros

If you want a job where you will go nowhere and make no more money than when you started-John Crane is the place for you. Also you must enjoy getting talked down to and totally unappreciated

    Cons

there is absolutely no way to let other people know just how terrible this job is. Its a total waste of time and you should by all means continue searching for another job-anything would be better-A fluffer for the porn industry would be better honestly.

    Advice to Management

Realize that you are unneeded and your direct reports probably know far more than you. Your company has a terrible reputation in the industry for a good reason. This is an awful job and I wouldn't suggest it to my worst enemy
