    Pros

Good people for the most part, hard working. Good benefits.

    Cons

The customer service levels from the customer service group, have declined over the last year Management doesn't always listen to the people who do the work. Not a lot of room for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Don't just promote someone because they have been there for a few years or longer. Promote truly capable and experienced people. Listen to your employees

    Pros

Salary, bonus, benefits and the opportunity for advancement on a global scale. Industry provides a broad range of challenging and rewarding opportunities.

    Cons

Dead weight to be eliminated in all areas. Went thru major restructuring on the operations side sending many manufacturing jobs overseas.

    Advice to Management

    Become visible

I have been working at John Crane full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I have worked at John Crane, as a machinist, for over nine years. The best the company can offer is salary and benefits.

    Cons

The shift in the economy caused the company (somewhat) of a financial setback. Many employees received a lay off. There is a constant shift in new management and ideas. It is a dysfunctional working environment.

    Advice to Management

Be more personable and be more involve with the manufacturing processes

I have been working at John Crane full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

They are trying to improve employee moral with activities, but seems to little to late.

    Cons

Employees are not appreciated. They started an activity team to get employees together and involved. Bowling, Ping-Pong, and soon softball. But, it just seems like a cover up. There are many changes going on. Spending close to probably millions on moving machine and equipment around from one end of the building to another. Mass Layoffs “which they told everyone they were opportunities not layoffs”, they took away tuition reimbursement opportunity without telling anyone. There is no opportunity to move up.

    Advice to Management

Communicate the changes going on and why. Just don't put up stupid board saying home of new saw room. Why is this being done for what reason? why did you cancel employee reimbursement program.

I worked at John Crane full-time

    Pros

In the past 2 years........ None

    Cons

No room to grow. Management spreads rumors and have no control on their departments. They either lost or laid off all of their best people due to a business quickly going down the drain.

    Advice to Management

It's as simple as taking care of your best guys. You scratch our back we scratch yours. Instead of threatening people, try listening!

I worked at John Crane full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I can't think of anything good to share, because the new mgmt is terrible, they share the company direction. The CEO says it but the mgmt doesn't follow it

    Cons

Used to be a great company to work at until the new support services mgr started, and his lead supervisors have no clue of what's going on or how to solve problems. Poor communication within the dept causes bad moral. Mgr called his first meeting after 1.5 yrs to ask for help the new support services mgr started, and his lead supervisors have no clue of what's going on or how to solve problems. Poor communication within the dept causes bad moral. Mgr called his first meeting after 1.5 yrs to ask for help! Yikes!

    Advice to Management

Clean house from middle mgmt down

I worked at John Crane full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

When I start for first 5 years was good environment to learn and progress good people with a lot of knowledge but sadly living one by one

    Cons

Last five turn to be a continuos down fall at all level management, production quality and benefits for employee.
Low quality managers took over the retire once and create a over and bad managed place with no solutions for problems that we overpass before.
Example: one manager of department did the job before and after 6-7 people could make the department as functional as before.
And corruption at all level if was the case of promotion .

    Advice to Management

Don't know, fire your self starting with the English boys.
