    Pros

    Fellow workers professional and bright. Willing to help.
    General atmosphere is one of cooperation.

    Cons

    Management needs work, personal vendettas, instructing work peers to not assist other workers. Telling employees not to share information regarding off hours pay with others.

    Advice to Management

    Clean up managers. Either train them to be managers or get rid of them.

    nice people, good benefits & pay

    Cons

    no work/life balance, no training, VERY sink or swim. be ready to work long days and weekends with no direction. soul sucking

    where is the training and support from management? everyone is so overworked that there is no time to be trained.

    Cons

    Sat around a lot. Job was very boring. Would not learn anything if I was not proactive about reaching out.

    Pros

    John Hancock is a great brand and a terrific place to work. The people and talent are strong, and leadership is visible and approachable. The company has been doing a good job in trying to communicate frequently and with transparency so people know what is going on.

    Cons

    Sometimes it seems that we are trying to do too much all at the same time. Also, the matrix reporting can be confusing.

    Good flexibility and work from home or time off policies in place.
    Great corporate citizenship and events.
    Career opportunities within the organization.

    Cons

    Working mentality varies vastly depending on different teams with the salary more or much being in a similar range.
    Strong hierarchy and silos in certain areas.

    Advice to Management

    Focus on doing business not reporting on business to be done. Work on internal support systems and teams so that work can be done effectively.

    Benefits package is decent, perks from sponsorship partners are not bad.

    Cons

    No office culture, no room for advancement, every decision is a red tape nightmare, lots of jobs being shipped overseas.

    Pros

    When cutbacks and belt tightening has been foecast, the belt tightening is practiced from the top down. A very fair company

    Cons

    It is a little behind the salary curve but the company offers a better work environment than other similar companies.

    Actively promote work from home throughout all the business units.

    Pros

    The people and co-workers were amazing to work with and everyone is extremely welcoming. Great area of the city to work in too.

    Cons

    Very difficult to stay busy with work, just not enough so there is a lot of down time. Very difficult to move up due to hierarchy. If you are willing to put in your time then you will be fine and content.
