Generally a nice working environment.

Cons

Managers are long term staff who have become unnecessarily hierarchical (in a place that boosts a flat structure), and have little checks and balances. Many are promoted based on loyalty, not solid management skills. Junior staff are nurtured based on their luck-of-the-draw with supervisors and managers.

Due to decentralized structure, it is hard to connect the locally hired staff to JSI globally

Much of the international development work relies on big donor funding and grants, so not much flexibility with salary and increases.

JSI is a very caring and friendly working environment. Most of the employees are passionate about their jobs and are always willing to help each other. Also there are no visual hierarchies within the staff.
