Return to all Reviews- Former Intern★★★★★
Pros
Work-life balance; Structure programme and support from the company
Cons
No major cons from Swire
- Current Intern★★★★★
Pros
Swire culture is exceptional with many senior leaders working their way up from their management trainee positions.
Cons
Upon completion of the internship process, return offers for the MT program are not decided right away. HR will select a few for 'fast-track interviews alongside other candidates for the MT position which will conflict with most applicant's recruiting timelines.
- Former Intern★★★★★
Pros
Nice colleagues and mentoring system. Exposure to different aspects of Swire Group's business.
Cons
Duration is too short. Not really possible to get a deeper understanding of company operation. Only about 30% of interns can get fast-tracked to the full-time program interview.
- Former Intern★★★★★
Pros
It's a company that really cares about its people. Lots of resources and support from Leadership Development Team throughout the internship and final presentation. Great opportunity to learn about the company and culture.
Cons
The summer internship grants A FEW interns fast track to the final round (panel) interview for Swire MT programme. For those who are not selected, you will be automatically rejected. The selection criteria is quite ambiguous and unclear. Personally find it quite disappointing that after completing the internship with a decent appraisal, we actually have less advantage for the MT programme application.
- Current Employee, more than 10 years★★★★★
Joined Swire as MT over 10 years ago. Worked in multiple Swire operating companies in different parts of the world.
RecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
World class in-house leadership development program with Swire developed modules and INSEAD on campus executive trainings (and Stanford when becoming senior). Job rotation throughout career a uniqueness of its general management program.
Cons
Risk of not having a focus in ones career either industry wise or business function wise. One could get a bit lost after a few years if not mentored properly or lacking a career aspiration / goal.

Pros
Salary are based on your experience. Gd working hrs, convenient location. Flexible environment and depending which dept you go, colleagues could be friendly at times.
Cons
1. No prospect... only their "Swire prince" are able to progress... if you does not belong to the "Royal program" , sad to say there will be none! 2. Poor Management... suggestion to mgmt are often being suppressed and ended up nothing to be done. All managers are mostly belong to - each for themselves! Abusing their power and authority for their personal stuff or particular customer. 3. Unbalanced structure... With the lame swire prince program ended up with too much high paid mgmt that costs the company to keep incurring huge expenditure. And most of the time, those swire prince cant perform and nothing will happen. 4. Unfair practices.. although they carry and support fair working environment but its just for show.. for those who worked in swire before will know that its the most unfair places to be. 5. Pro elitism... As mentioned in point 1 & 3, they appoint only their own prince program to take up key role and often, most of them are inexperienced. This causes lot of real talented employees to leave the company.

Pros
Working in "Swire Kingdom", you know the medical benefits. Good to start your career if you love to develop in traditional travel agency
Cons
Over half of Travel consultants unwilling to study new systems, which increases tons of work to travel Officer. When % of your salary increment was Much higher than average staff, you still got less than $1000hkd increases after worked in the company for 2 years.

Pros
- Amazing colleagues to work with. Most are very helpful and are willing to teach interns - Structured internship program that allows interns to contribute something of value to the company
Cons
- Interns may be put into business areas that do not relate with what they study in school (although this is part of Swire's generalist approach) - A relatively short internship program. The duration prohibited any sort of rotation around the firm, and thus interns did not get to experience the different parts of Swire
