I have been working at John Tyler Community College full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Faculty and staff are dedicated to student success. Many opportunities to explore and learn about the business structure of community college. Wonderful people!

    Cons

Leadership does not always communicate thoroughly. Quiet promotions. Complainers.

    Advice to Management

Be as transparent as possible with the college community. Create more through policies. Be open to ideas from 'the floor'.

    Pros

    Great salary and benefits.
    Awesome people.
    Good hours and flexibility.

    Cons

    Requires yearly contract.
Holidays are not included in salary pay and rarely will you get overtime.

    Advice to Management

Hire people within the agency. Please don't hire temporarily only to then hire people outside of the agency.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at John Tyler Community College part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The administrators are easy to talk to and are all very friendly. The facilities are new and nice too-- great computer labs with nice projectors and other amenities that make teaching very easy. I have a lot of freedom with my syllabus and with teaching material too.

    Cons

I can't say much about the coworker environment because I have literally never met my coworkers-- I teach at night. The pay isn't great.
