    Pros

As an independent consultant, I am able to set my own hours and work from home. The flexibility works well for me.

    Cons

As an independent consultant, the job can be lonely. Most communication is via email with little one-on-one client contact.

I have been working at John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It's beautiful, the collection is amazing, the exhibitions are incredible, the full-time benefits are exceptional, great for resume.

    Cons

Extremely disfunctional, far too low wages considering what they do spend money on, ask too much of employees, HR is utterly useless, turn-over is crazy high

    Advice to Management

(Includes the Board) Stop caring about creating buildings and start caring more about the collection and the staff. You are lucky you have the quality of employees you do, stop pushing them away. You are already known to be the worst museum to work for! I am not a guard either!

I worked at John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Beautiful place to work at, impressive on resume. Great benefits. Real-life experience. Area is full of beauty and cultural attractions. Interns were treated with respect and were given great opportunities.

    Cons

Management in some of the departments is dysfunctional. This created some very negative politics and has led to high turnover. The jobs are paid ridiculously low. Lack of communication between different departments and the interns led to confusion and frustration.

    Advice to Management

Some managers need to be removed as they abuse their power. Some of the heads of departments are not properly trained or qualified. Better pay might lead to better applicants.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    The healthcare benefits are satisfactory.

    Cons

High turnover in employees based on low wages and poor management.

    Advice to Management

It is the 21st century, diversity is not a new concept. For an educational institution the level of management is sub-par, improving the quality of managers will improve the quality of workers.
