I worked at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

It is a great place to work with a family unit, and I love the children.

    Cons

In the past, when Iect in 2006, there was not a sense of commoradity between the staff.

    Advice to Management

My advice would be that everyone has to abide by the same polices, rules, and regulations set forth by the department.

I worked at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They do a lot for the community and for the kids. They have some nice job perks and do promote from within.

    Cons

Clicks, treated poorly by coworkers . A lot of meetings that tend to waste time. Managers turn their heads with difficult employees and allow the good ones to leave rather than have confrontations.

    Advice to Management

Give consequences to bad behavior from coworkers who like to bully others

I worked at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

JHACH is a great place to work. Even though taking care of sick/injured children is serious business, it is a very rewarding work and the management and staff knows how to have fun!

    Cons

There continue to be many changes in the organization since Johns Hopkins took over. Most of them are positive, but I have also seem many "top down" changes that are not well communicated or easily understood.

    Advice to Management

Don't assume that someone is not loyal to you or the organization based on third hand information. There are always rumors. Most of the employees and physicians at JHACH are very dedicated to the cause!

I have been working at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

One of the best organization to work for. They are flexible with the schedule. You will encounter with co-workers who love what they do. It's clearly not about the money.

    Cons

There is no room for promotions, It's very hard to be considerate. They would rather take someone from the outside.

Great place to work because of a skilled staff

    Cons

Not much room for advancement in lower management

I worked at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Okay insurance
    Good 401K match

    Cons

They take advantage of hard working people.
Moving up and pay raises are hard to come by.
Hard to get time off for traveling.
If you think this is a good place to get your foot in the door, then move around, it is Not.
They also have difficulty working around school or child care schedules.

    Pros

-No specific uniforms, you can wear any scrubs or T-shirts/polo shirts you like.
    -Pediatric experience
-"John's Hopkins" name on your resume

    Cons

-Cliques in every department, if you're not in them you get hung out to dry.
-Management promises changes, brags about firing the problem people, then rehires them 6 months later. Management lies to your face.
-Management tries to tell you to scold your fellow employees for being lazy or calling out.
-No incentive to work in the ER/PICU vs the floor, same rate around the hospital.
-Holiday pay is $4-$6 an hour extra depending on your position, not 1.5x or 2x pay here.
    -Favoritism in management.
-Constant revolving door, seems like the new RNs that are good leave within a few months, and the lazy ones gain seniority.
-Rules are bent depending on who you are or who you know.

    Advice to Management

Stop rewarding the lazy people and punishing the hard workers by making them pick up the slack. Don't tell us to scold our co-workers for calling out or being lazy either, it's not our jobs, IT'S YOURS!

I worked at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great Coworkers, everyone is focused on the patient, children. One of the friendlier hospitals that I worked at. I was only 21 so maybe that might be a factor :), but I still had a great time with co-workers

    Cons

Seems to pay lower than surrounding hospitals in area, despite Florida being one of the lowest paid states in the medical field. Supervisor was very strict and confrontational, but their like that everywhere, right??

    Advice to Management

Focus on the positives and not micro managing the employees. Help each person feel as if they are part of a team and the whole place would run beautifully.
