I have been working at Johns Hopkins Health System full-time

    Pros

Excellent collaboration in the Controller's office - one of the most outstanding departments I have worked with in my 9+ years there. There are so many opportunities waiting for those with the drive to grasp them. Phenomenal work/life balance and flexibility once the trust of management is earned. Opportunities for challenge around every corner. Department values personal and professional growth.

    Cons

    Vastly outweighed by the pros.

    Advice to Management

    Continue valuing the people.

I have been working at Johns Hopkins Health System full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Large organization with many resources at your disposal.

    Cons

Directors have minimal engagement and don't always provide clear direction. Priorities are constantly shifting and peer managers feel as though our leadership is making knee jerk decisions. These decisions are hard to articulate to staff when they change so frequently.

    Advice to Management

Set a more positive tone and provide clear direction; even if that direction is not perfect, it at least keeps us moving in one direction

I have been working at Johns Hopkins Health System full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Overall benefits package and being surrounded by people (non-executive or senior level management) who care about what they're doing.

    Cons

Uninterested in growth or development, mobility is restricted depending upon who you report to. Salaries are paid at least 10k below average of employees in downtown Baltimore, and are not assessed to fit living costs in the area.

    Advice to Management

    Do your job.

Develop your people. Complete the work that's in your job scope, go above and beyond. Care about your employees beyond the point of their work completion. Invest in your people.
