I worked at Johns Manville full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Money, 401k and insurance is the only good things about this place! This plant used to be like a family and took care of one another

    Cons

Old and worn out machines! So many shady things going on in this plant. Plant manager has ruined this plant with her team starting with HR that really gets a kick out of firing longevity employees. Most supervisors do not act professional and are not held to the same integrity as hourly workers are. Supervisors cursing employees, supervisors having affairs with other employees, supervisors giving preferential treatment to the employees they like, supervisors on the internet all night long not paying attention to employees making sure each employees are doing their job.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management at this particular plant wouldn't do any good. They do what they want, when they want and DO NOT care how their hourly employees are treated!

I worked at Johns Manville full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    The workers in the plant

    Cons

Too many managers, not enough Leaders.
    Negative consequences to errors.
Not trying to get better - just staying off corporate radar.
Persons in manager roles who had little or no experience in how to deal with people or what the position of the people, in there charge actually did.

    Advice to Management

Do a 180 degree mind set and lose the 1980 mindset.

"Politics reigns supreme, old school technology, extremely conservative culture"

    Pros

Good benefits package with generous consideration when ill and family affairs require working from home.

    Cons

Like working in a company from the 50's. Boys club all the way. Politics drive promotions. Good employees with strong skills who actively push for improvements and change are soon driven out of the company. Morale is in the gutter. Very little understanding of leading technologies.

    Advice to Management

You claim you hire the best, yet once you do no listens to their advice. Promotions are based on Politics and going with the flow.
