I worked at Johnson Controls as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

    -Dedicated, intelligent, hard-working employees.
    -Compelling products and technologies.
    -Great facility.
    -Downtown Milwaukee!

    Cons

-Committed to outsourcing even though it produces horrible results.
    -Management heavy.
-Tendency to ignore employee feedback about unworkable plans.
-Serious Politics-- bring your sword and plate mail.

    Advice to Management

-Drop the outsourcing. It costs more in rework and employee dissatisfaction than it saves up front.
-Dialog meaningfully with employees even if it means altering committed plans.

    Pros

None. They are dishonest, cheap, and morally corrupt.

This is one shady company. I would not be a part of this company selling inferior products to its customers. This is the fox watching the hen house!

    Positive Outlook

I worked at Johnson Controls full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Competitive benefits, excellent leadership expectation model, great working environment/culture, and excellent pay. Unlimited growth potential if willing to relocate.

    Cons

M&A activity lead to cost savings measures that cost many of the companies stakeholders to lose their jobs. Company culture and expectations can very greatly between offices.

    Advice to Management

In the future when cost saving initiatives require layoffs, take the time to assess if there are roles/employees are essential to the success of the business. P&L is important but, contracting/outsourcing has lead to inefficient processes, lowered quality, and extended timelines.
