    Positive Outlook

I worked at Johnson Controls full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people in general. Strong strategic management system. New Adient management has the right attitude and talent to expect great things.

    Cons

Multi-layered bureaucratic systems have made quick, agile customer support difficult in the past. The new management seems to have the mindset to reverse/mitigate this. Their success as a separate company through the mountains and valleys of the automotive business will be highly dependent on this.

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Johnson Controls full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great opportunities to move around within the organization. Very dynamic organization, good systems in all aspects of the business--engineering change management, manufacturing processes and controls thereof, and human resources.

    Cons

The shareholder is king--if the year looks unproductive, there will likely be RIFs. Also, it is possible that if you're really good at something, you'll end up stuck doing that over and over.

    Advice to Management

Look for cost cutting measures outside of the headcount arena

    Pros

JCI is well managed. They are aggressive in controlling costs and quick to pull the plug on unsuccessful programs. Lots of advancement potential within the various divisions. The auto division is very well thought of throughout the industry and is considered a very tough competitor. JCI is a tough negotiator with the OEMs and will readily walk away from unprofitable business.

    Cons

The bottom line is extremely important, be aware of potential layoffs even during good times. JCI has lots of alliances with minority suppliers that were great in getting them contracts in the past but will probably be a drag on their growth in the future.

    Advice to Management

JCI needs to beef up its interior and seating new product development if it wants to maintain is leadership position.
