I have been working at Johnson Controls as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Lots of over time if you want it.

    Very clean work enviroment.

    Very safety focused.

The pay is good (if you are a actual employee).

    Cons

Not much work/life balance afforded its employees. Currently they are working us 11 hours a day, five day(s) a week, which leaves us very little time to do anything else besides sleep and eat. Having a national holiday off feels like a punishment because we are forced to work weekends to make up for lost time.

Training program isn't very good and is left to the employees, which has varying results, some employees are great, others couldn't care less if you learn anything and are left to the wolves.

They have been using the same machines since they opened the doors and a lot of the machines are clearly showing their age.

A lot of their job processes are extremely inefficient, but are unwilling to change.
Machine maintenance isn't great and a lot of times, employees will opt to just try and fix the machine it'self before calling maintenance.

    Advice to Management

Instead of working employees like dogs, start actually fully staffing your shifts. In the end, you'll eventually pay for working employees so hard with a high turn in rate, high call in rate or accidents due to carelessness from employee exhaustion.

A lot of job proccesses could be altered or change to make them easier and more efficient. Is there a reason production employees have stacks of paper work to deal with and management isn't taking a more hands on role on assigning work loads? 9 out of 10 times employees are the ones making decisions management should be making.

Invest in some modern day equipment, you may pay in the short long, but I guarantee in the long run that it'll pay off. The amount of re-work that happens due to a machine error has to be costing you an arm and a leg.

I worked at Johnson Controls full-time

    Pros

It is a job and you will get paid

    Cons

Depends on what department you work in but you may get sent home a lot or you may work 13 days and then only have 1 day off before you start it all over again. They say they care about the employee but I have seen otherwise. Line Lead treats you like you are in a prison camp with NO HUMAN RIGHTS.

    Pros

    Cons

Highly political. Tug-of-wars between senior managers affecting subordinates. Should be cunning and equally political to survive in JCI.

    Advice to Management

Exhale some old air and inhale some fresh air. Intentionally eradicate the corruption of "politics" and "filthy politicians" among employees.
