I have been working at Johnson Controls full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Most... Most of the bosses give you room to use your talent and do your job. If you are skilled, and want to do well, (and get the right manager) you certainly can here.

    Cons

Lots of ups and downs, never really sure what's coming next. Though it seems to be stabilizing lately. It comes and goes with the economy.

    Advice to Management

People don't quit jobs, they quit managers.

I have been working at Johnson Controls full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pros Johnson Controls does offer a fair wage for most employees. I personally really enjoy working for this company. Offer great 401(k),and Insurance has good coverage but extremely high cost.

    Cons

Insurance has high premiums and deductibles. Lower management needs higher percentage bonus pay. Does not offer all religious holidays and offers vacation time sparingly after one year.

    Advice to Management

Vacation time could be improved after one year of service as well as after 15 years of service. Bonus pay needs increasing after one year of service. Myself being in management I see potential growth with JCI by hiring and paying more two new hires and employees in the first year. And that includes union employees and salaried employees. It is difficult to hire experienced mechanics and office employees due to other contractors offering more income. But I will say on a positive note that I encourage all looking for employment to check with JCI about opportunities. JCI is a great place to work, low stress levels.

I have been working at Johnson Controls full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good pay, management listens for the most part, great people to work with, huge line card of products and services, company is always changing so there is always something new to work on, upward mobility potential

    Cons

Poor strategic planning for maximizing local business growth, sub-optimal hiring selections for key management positions resulting in sub-optimal team performance, too "number-focused" without understanding what creates or impacts the numbers

    Advice to Management

Focus more on people, and less on numbers. Be pro-active, not re-active.

I worked at Johnson Controls full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Job stability, management stability, professionalism, benefits. The Waynesboro location employs about 500 people and is also called Frick. The management is mostly fair and consistent and the environment is laid back.

    Cons

Good Old Boy Network. Limited room for growth. For the most part all employees are treated the same even if they are great or awful. Revolutionize the business and make millions for the company you get a 3% raise. Do nothing, show up on time and you still get a 3% raise.

    Pros

-Treated all employee (hourly and salaried) very well.
    -Leader in their industry.
-Several different divisions, not tied to one industry.

    Cons

-Lease properties and close plants often. Jobs are only there from one OEM contract until the next.

I have been working at Johnson Controls full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

JCI is an outstanding global company with a strong people growth culture. If you are looking for an opportunity to advance and experience new challenges then JCI is a good company to explore.

    Cons

JCI is currently going through a merger and shedding layers of managers so there is a great deal of uncertainty in terms of employment.

    Advice to Management

Focus on execution of existing strategy and be careful of letting talent go that you will be rehiring the next year.
