I worked at Johnson Controls full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Job stability, management stability, professionalism, benefits. The Waynesboro location employs about 500 people and is also called Frick. The management is mostly fair and consistent and the environment is laid back.

    Cons

Good Old Boy Network. Limited room for growth. For the most part all employees are treated the same even if they are great or awful. Revolutionize the business and make millions for the company you get a 3% raise. Do nothing, show up on time and you still get a 3% raise.

    -Leader in their industry.
-Several different divisions, not tied to one industry.

I have been working at Johnson Controls full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

JCI is an outstanding global company with a strong people growth culture. If you are looking for an opportunity to advance and experience new challenges then JCI is a good company to explore.

    Cons

JCI is currently going through a merger and shedding layers of managers so there is a great deal of uncertainty in terms of employment.

    Advice to Management

Focus on execution of existing strategy and be careful of letting talent go that you will be rehiring the next year.

    Pros

    Employees and great team relationships

    Cons

No succession plans for employees. Internal employees are leveraged to small salary increases even upon promotions. Managers have little to no power to promote their staff due to to the bureaucracy of human resource.

I worked at Johnson Controls full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good Pay, good benefits, company vehicle, that's it. I loved my job and taking care of my customers.

    Cons

First - I am not a disgruntled former employee. Another employee said it best; "TYCO is the one way company, they can only do things one way, and it's not the best way" MANAGEMENT - That's the biggest problem, the managers don't want to listen, or ask the techs for input, they don't care about customer service, or taking care of the customer. I was told the "Customer Doesn't Have a Choice" It's the "Good Ol' Boys Club" as long as you are in management, Managers protect each other and could care less about the worker who actually does the work so they can get their bonuses. I put in more time than the manager ever know about and served my customers very well. IF you are only in it to make money, go for it, but don't expect to get any help from the manager. The safety tests are a joke, once you take the test - you are considered trained, and they make you take the tests every month. (some of them are the same ones over and over and over again) And once you sign the test - if something happens to you watch out, they will do everything they can to make your life miserable. I stuck with the company for so long because I was hoping that they would wake up and do something after the merger with Johnson Controls, but since the merger things only got worse.

    Advice to Management

Keep the bad managers you have - It's better for the competition!
