I worked at Johnson Controls full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with. Very employee friendly. Great starting pay and benefits

    Cons

In the 4 years I worked at the company, the amount of travel could be considered a down side. But if you don't mind the travel, it wasn't bad.

    Advice to Management

I have been working at Johnson Controls full-time

    Pros

Employees stay with the company for a long time, mostly due to the fact that the people are knowledgeable and great to work with. Good work/life balance and freedom to work from home.

    Cons

In the engineering department it is difficult to achieve upward mobility without switching departments; thus leaving employees stagnant in the same position for years.

    Advice to Management

Promote from within and be more aware of competitive products in the marketplace.

I worked at Johnson Controls full-time

    Pros

Benefit package, low turnover (you have to do something really terrible to get fired), paid lunches for end of month (because you are forced to work through your lunch).

    Cons

Unfortunately to SimplexGrinnell you are just an employee number. Once you learn something, you own it type of mentality. Office politics and bulling. Dirty tactics by senior management. Lower pay than most companies for similar jobs, no direction from managers unless it's crunch time. If you're not a manager, it's extremely difficult to move or grow within the company. No standard training offered to new hires, except for the do it yourself e-learning. Merger with Johnson Controls making future very uncertain for local group. Upper/executive management is scattered all over the world resulting in disconnected corporate communications.

    Advice to Management

Keep your employees happy and than you will be happy too.
